Anyone a DMOZ editor?

I have been trying to get a couple of mainstream websites listed for years and never ever ever ever had any luck getting anything listed... Highly uncompetitive niches that should be a shoe in.

got listed in yahoo just fine but with dmoz never had a ounce of luck.

Any tips other than giving up period? Any editors that can help me out

it seems impossible to get listed there, i read a long description about how youre supposed to get listed there, i followed instructions and still never get sites accepted

i gave up, i give up

Pay a Dmoz editor to list you.

I was an editor for about 2 years. The number #1 reason I did not list people was because they would never, ever follow directions. Always sent to the wrong catagory and then when I would contact them, the e-mail would be bogus or they would never write back. Delete.

Another reason you may not get listed is because it's easy to forget to update. Doh!

You might also try their msg board as you can ask questions there

buy some sites listed in your categories, email the owners.

This thread is so 2004.

Just give up and move on. It's hopeless. I have followed the directions to a tee several times, on several different mainstream sites, and never, ever gotten listed. I hate that whole fucken site now.

Randomonium 12-09-2005 10:46 AM

One solution is to buy an expired domain already listed in the category you want.

Didn't see what category you were looking for so here are a few and their expiration dates that are DMOZ listed under webmaster resources.

profitable-niche-sites.com 31-Dec-2005 (in 21 days)
casinoaffiliateprogram.com 14-Jan-2006 (in 35 days)
teamaffiliate.com 10-Jan-2006 (in 31 days)
interlinker.net 06-Jan-2006 (in 27 days)
linkopp.com 01-Jan-2006 (in 22 days)

I've gotten listed quite frequently, and getting listed is usually pretty nice... a free few hundred se hits extra a day.

Have you tried applying to become an editor?
Go to the deepest sub-cat you have an interest, and apply there. Follow their rules, and after three months you can apply for another (small) cat. Keep following the rules, and after a year you may have privileges over a medium cat.
I know it works. I did it.

You better buy them before they expire. AS SOON AS THE SITE EXPIRES OR CHANGES, DMOZ DROPS THE SITE ASAP. Buy it from the owner before it expires or don't buy it. Google will sandbox it and make u pay :2 cents:
