Google Talk will it fail or take over?

So it's basically an MSN Messenger replica. Tells you how much mail is in your gmail box, Instant Messaging, and Voice Chat.

Now, my buddy thinks that no one will use it because everyone already has their Yahoo clients or MSN Messenger etc, and no one will switch.

Personally I think everyone will have in 12 months or less.

I doubt it will happen in 12 months.. if ever. Look at ICQ. It's been the shittiest IM client for years but all us adult people use it still. Unless they can think of a really great reason people should use them over Yahoo / MSN / ICQ / AIM its just not going to happen. Most people don't like learning new programs with new quirks etc.

I personally think Google Talk is kind of cool, but I am basically a computer geek. :1orglaugh

It will catch on, but I dunno how soon

google doesn't have the same contact information that icq has, plus you can't leave messages for people, you have to email them, if they are offline
