Small "convention" Camera

I think I am gonna buy myself a X-mas gift this year and pick up a small camera for use at conventions and other events so I can be one of the "cool kids" snapping pics too.. :1orglaugh I have my bigger cameras but I hate to lug those around all day so I want something pocket size that I can snap away with.

Any ideas for a good one???

Should be around 5MP, long battery life, decent priced memory for bigger sticks and as I said smaller.. Around the $300 range give or take a few depending on the cost of the larger memory if needed...

Thanks!! :pimp

It almost seems TOO small tho.. I would prob get drunk and sit on it and crush it!! :winkwink: Its in the size and price range tho..

I just picked up the Canon SD450 and really, really like it. :)

RevSand 12-08-2005 06:55 AM

I also like the canons.. I have had a powershot for awhile and its held up GREAT for me.. I have dropped it and beat on it amazingly and it still works great.. The only problem is that its a brick....

I was looking at:

http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/con...ode lid=12013 7MB but more $$

I would settle on the:

This one is kinda interesting too..

I do like the screens on the casios.. they are bigger on the small bodies..

I like the Canon power shot family. I have always had really good experiences with the battery life and they take decent pictures. Casios are probably all right, but I can't get over thinking about the crappy little keyboards they used to sell.

the T7 is great ..plus juicy lost his and gave me all his extras .. :)

the Casio is just a tad thicker but not much ..in fact it felt a bit less delicate because of the extra thickness ... :thumbsup

Yea as I said earlier I would be almost afraid of breaking something as thin as the casio small one or the T7.. BUT I do really like the size since I want something I can carry around alot and not be bulky.. The smaller it is the more likely I think I will be willing to carry it around and use it...

BIGTYMER 12-08-2005 04:59 PM

My powershot is good but the shutter speed is crap.

That's what I have - will you come teach me how to use it? I swear, my old digital camera is 6 or 7 years old and I didn't realize the new ones did all that cool stuff :)

One thing pointed out to me regarding the Sonys is that they have the powerstick which most multi-card readers won't read. That made me decide to the Canon.

I also looked at the SD550 but was told unless I was blowing pictures up to poster size, it wasn't worth the extra size/weight to get the 2 extra megapixels.

Seriously, the SD450 is the coolest little thing. I got it at Amazon and got a $20+ credit towards a memory card (which you know you're going to need since they all come with such tiny little cards). It was about $280 with shipping and stuff so Newegg has the better price.

And get a case - the screen is huge and I suspect subject to scratching easily.

Two VERY good points.. I am leaning towards the canon since I still like my old brick and its been very good to me..
