Firefox made life so much easier

But the update fucked me up...

acctman 12-07-2005 08:21 PM

just like all other broswer that have claimed to be the IE killer... it's all nice and cool till you start adding features and coding standards that are needed to view pages. IE is stable firefox will never be stable, the net is changing to fast.

reynold 12-07-2005 08:24 PM

FF works perfectly well on me..

gornyhuy 12-07-2005 08:25 PM

Call me crazy, but IE loads pages much more quickly for me.

NinjaSteve 12-07-2005 08:27 PM

FF 1.0.7 as great. FF 1.5 sucks ass. If I have 3+ tabs open and a page is loading, the browser freezes up. It's slower than 1.0.7.

pornguy 12-07-2005 08:28 PM

I did not update FF, when everyone started talking about it. Too soon. let them get the bugs out of the update first.

GoNe 12-07-2005 08:31 PM

I love FireFox. :)

Have you tried the fasterfox extention? Works awesomely fast for me.
Plus for the odd page that won't work on Firefox. there is an extension that you can get to just right click and open a single page in IE.
Screw Microshaft and thier attitude of never having to improve thier products. :321GFY

microsoft updates IE all the time. IE 7 beta is out right now with tab browsing, i'm using it right now.

I updated to 1.5 on all my PC's and had no problems at all. FF is noticably faster now too. Plus I've got the FasterFox extension installed which really turbocharges it.

:thumbsup

How long since the fuctionality actually changed? Seems to me it's been the same old browser forever. Forced down our throats. The only reason the new version has it is because people are demanding it now. Otherwise they would've continued to be lazy.

I was soured on Firefox for awhile but I'm very satisfied with FF 1.5. It's pretty amazing to work with when you've enabled a few extensions like Tab Mix Plus (this is how Firefox should work by default), IE Tab, FasterFox, Forecast Fox, Ad Block and Download Statusbar.

Works great. Fast, And no daily exploit warnings (more like one a month or so).

HAHAHAHAAH

Okay I got my laugh of the night ... for the record, IE 4 came out some 8 years ago (give or take) - that's 3 versions during that time, if you include the new beta. Do the math, they update it about as often as their desktop OS.

No, IE is in so many ways inferior to Firefox, esp. if you do any web development ... but like was pointed out, wait til they get the bugs out of the latest FF before upgrading.

luv$ 12-07-2005 09:08 PM

Well, my prob is that a lot of my settings were lost, like saved passwords and remembering stuff in textboxes etc.

it actually updated more than that cause of the service packs, and just because the version number doesn't change doesn't mean minor updates aren't being added. Windows updates add IE patches, addons and changes. but it's just a browser the big thing now is tab browsing that's the only thing right now that would require a major change to a browser.

PixeLs 12-07-2005 11:44 PM

I haven't tried it yet but I thought FF 1.5 is doing great. :)

fetishblog 12-07-2005 11:45 PM

Fuck IE. And fuck the morons still using it. I hope they all die a brutal and extremely painful death.

That is such a load of shit. Thanks to Fire "NutScrape in disguise" Fox we're back to checking whether things work in both browsers and spending extra time and money making sure things that have worked for 5 years work for 10% of surfers. Firefox has such pathetic implementation of some features it can't even get BROWSER INDEPENDENT plugins like flash to run properly.. sad sad sad.. Lots of potential.. but not there yet unless you absolutely.. positively have to whine about Microsoft like a good 1337 g33k sheep.
Maybe in another year or so it will get there, but not yet.. still just as unstable and exploitable as IE with more integration issues.
