    So you think the AIR MARSHAL was justified in shooting the guy????????

    I say yes.......

    These guys have to react fast. I believe he was justified in his decision based on what I have heard so far.

                      A 44-year-old U.S. citizen who claimed to have a bomb was killed by air marshals Wednesday at Miami International Airport, several sources told CNN. The man, identified as Rigoberto Alpizar, said the device was in his carry-on backpack, a Department of Homeland Security official said. When Alpizar -- standing on the boarding bridge between the plane and terminal -- appeared to reach into his backpack he was shot, the official said. No bomb was found.

                                                          Agreed, from what I've "heard" thus far, I'd say it was justified. I kinda wonder though about the source of information right now. Also, the conspiracy theorist in me thinks maybe this is publicity to counter all the recent information about how airport security isn't much more secure then it was in 2001.

                                                                              If she knew he had a mental problem and wasn't taking medication , he shouldnt have been travelling.. It sucks , but i think it was justified.. its hard to say without seeing a video , but they say he was running up the aisle of the plane waving his arms yelling incoherently..( after claiming he had a bomb ) ran down off the plane and they shot him on the tarmac as he reached in a bag he had .. i can't see what else they could have done..

                                                                                                          regardless, saying you have a bomb, and reaching into a backpack should be a gauranteed way to get shot... could have had a trigger in there..

No, I don't think a real terrorist would run frantically and yell "I got a bomb in my backpack!" and a wife running after him saying "my husband's bipolar" Never heard that happening once thru the 100s of terrorist attacks I read about. But given the situation it's sad but he really brought it onto himself. Don't think it was really justified but couldn't have been unexpected either.. some people don't function well under stress.. not all marshals/sheriffs/cops could be expected to be smart enough to figure what's real what's mental illness under stressful situations

                                                                                                                                                                          It's easy to sit and second-guess the air marshals in a situation like this, but unless you're in that situation you just don't know how it is, or how it was. When you are responsible for 180 lives on a plane loaded with tons of fuel, and more lives of people in the nearby air terminal as well, the likely choice one is likely to make isn't often going to favor the person suspected of carrying a bomb. I know I would certainly rather end one life than risk the lives of hundreds including my own by letting things slide this one time.

                                                                                                                                                                          How some of you can sit there and think you're qualified to criticize and judge is beyond me. I'm sure there will be a formal investigation into every aspect of this incident and it will be judge properly by informed people who aren't in the cheap seats watching CNN.

                                                                                                                                                                                  For the record in Australia (and I am 90% sure in most of the US) it is an offence to knowingly alter your Blood Alcohol Level after an accident or before a breath test. Usually the punishment is much harder than if you had of accepted you were over the limit.
