biz thread: the best way to sell webcam sites

How to sell webcam sites -- advice from webcams.com :

The popularity of webcam sites has grown exponentially in the past few years. However, we still find that some of our affiliates are inexperienced at converting webcam sites. They have a tough time selling memberships, when in reality it should be in some cases easier to sell webcam memberships than anything else simply because the customer is actually seeing a live girl who will basically do whatever they want on webcam. Who the hell wouldn't want to direct their on sex show?

These tips apply to selling any webcam site, not just webcams.com, although we hope you will try us out too.

1. Don't just link to the front page of the site! This leaves the (often intellectually challenged) surfer to his own devices and most webcam sites are just too overwhelming for them to understand. Instead, you should either create a nice custom page that totally describes the fact that they can get access to 100's of hot girls. Include some really hot sample pictures or even videos that really hit home with the surfer. Use simple catch phrases like 'Ever wanted to direct your own webcam show? At this site, you can.. and there are 100's of horny live girls to choose from!'

2. Sell the girls!! On all the webcam sites out there, there are literally hundreds of girls to choose from.. one of the best selling methods is to put a thumb nail of a girl on your site with a brief description that links to an amateur profile page, or a gallery with lots of pictures of the girl. Plain webcam girl pages sell much better than fancy pages! Make sure you use hot girls as well. These profile pages should basically indicate that the girl is on the site and that the guy can actually see her naked if he gets out his credit card and joins. Link straight to the join page from this amateur profile page!

3. Sell the sex!! Another good method is to put some nice text links (and maybe some thumbs) for various niches like 'Live lesbian sex shows' that link to a page with a lot of very good quality hardcore pics that match the niche, along with information on how they can join the site to actually see these performers live and how they honor the member's requests on webcam! Again, use simple catch phrases -- 'If you join you can talk to these and 100's of other amateur models -- not professional performers -- who will do literally whatever you say for you LIVE on webcam!', etc.

Basically, sell live sex with hot girls, and keep the pages as simple as possible!! There is no reason to make things too difficult.

Again, these methods apply to every webcam site you sell... if you do this your conversions will improve.

What amazes me isn't the affiliates that don't know how to sell webcams but the webcam site owners that don't know how to sell webcams. :1orglaugh

Should this custom page be linked directly to the signup page or should you put up links to the front page and signup page and explain the benefits of joinning right from the start (besides being free)?

Surfers should be sent straight to the join page from the custom pages. If anyone would like to talk more about this on ICQ, we would be glad to show you custom pages that we use for Google/Yahoo traffic that convert better than 1:50 for free memberships and 1:80 for trials

Webcam sites

This is a very interesting thread. I've been not so long in the webcam business (2.5 yrs) and along the way I have researched and studied all the major live chat platforms.

I have to tell you that the cam business is one of the most complicated but also the most dynamic area in online adult space. It's a 24/7 business where live content and available traffic are strongly related to eachother.

My opinion to generate good profits is:

Have enough girls (happy and sexy looking) girls online.

Provide webmasters with an effective and easy-to-use toolkit and lots of free to use content.

Don't shave your members / webmasters
(for example: member is in private for 1.30 minutes and he will be charged for 2 minutes)

Only offer high quality and dedicated live streams (lot of models work shadow on other systems) which results in visitors that leave

Give a free tour of free preview period

Give high converting webmasters their own cam site running on their own (sub)domain with better kickbacks

Give webmasters realtime data (traffic & revenue stats)

Shoot content from your own models (for TGP and MGP content) which webmaster can use freely.

Use the latest web technology to deliver emotion and awareness for your targetgroup.

In my opinion these are the elements a +18 live video chat platform needs to have for reselling webmasters.

Sandro Anthonio

Some good advice in this thread

Furious_Female 12-08-2005 04:41 AM

Words to work by... I do this with all sites, not just cam sites. Although, I favor cam sites :)

flashfire 12-08-2005 04:59 AM

I find when you can actually send them to a real live girl they pick and give them a couple minutes to get hooked...I wish programs had girls dedicated to talking surfers in to pulling out their credit cards...maybe they do?

Very good read and in the relatively short time I've been promoting cams, all of John's points seem true. Just a few of observations I've found:

- I hate the word "free" and try to avoid it like crazy, esp. since I get a high % of SE traffic. The stereotype about only beggars/freeloaders search using the word "free" may or may not be true but if nothing else, if you push something by saying it's free and it's not, you lose credibility with the surfer ... and so does the sponsor

- I've experimented with sending surfers directly to an actual chat room or to a profile page. In this case, the link is from a specific girl (e.g. a blog post about her). I felt that the sites that redirect the surfer to the "all online" page if she's not available was contrary to the usability law of always giving the customer what they expect ...

If a link says "click here to chat with me live", when the surfer clicks it, he *should* be taken to a chat room with that girl/guy/couple in it. But it doesn't necessarily work with cams unless the guy is really taken by the photos/text, etc. you have before he clicks.

Net net, they usually find someone else pretty quickly esp. on the larger cam sites. So I'm slowly moving to sending directly to the chat room w/ the host site's redirect if she's not available.

- I love the subdomain ideas for so many reasons (SEO a big part of that - I can control getting my own traffic), but from a sponsor POV I can see it causing problems due to lack of control. If you let someone host everything on their own, even the brand, the rotten apples can cause you grief as in the end, the surfer ends up on the host site at some point.

- I'm not a TGP/MGP fan but having lots of galleries with current performers is a big plus. God knows these boards are full of TGP owners who get a ton of traffic. Maybe more of them would push cams if good, relevant gallery content was available?

- Niche niche niche. I've begun heavily pushing niches and sending directly to a complimentary site or at least category.

Webcamcash, for example, now has sub-sites for teens, gay, trannies, etc. so you can send a surfer directly to an "all online" page full of performers that suit them. PussyCash allows you to send surfers directly to a category within Imlive and has promo tools for each major niche. And of course, Webcams.com is doing the same, providing a tool to not only directly link to a category but to a host within that category. All excellent ways to promote niches.

- Lastly, with only modest experience, but fetish/dominatrix/bdsm cams seem to convert and retain the best. It doesn't take a rocket science to figure out why but it's something I'm really starting to push. The downside is that real mistresses who know what they are doing are at a premium and I wish there were more cam sites dedicated to this niche, even if the # of performers is relatively small.

That's it, breakfast time.
btw, I hope this discussion continues, nice to see threads about business once and awhile :)

Sounds like some good advice John! :thumbsup

John,
Do you have the ability to generate dynamic pictures that link STRAIGHT to the girls profile? Not out dated images where it goes to an "offline" page. That's an immediate no-sale.

I have always thought itchlive has a lot to offer its members. Great job!

i will promote you when you fix the picture promo tool

SZNY 12-11-2005 05:39 PM

thx, Steen2, we try to do our best. This platform is just online for 19 months and to operate/manage a 24/7 business like this is a hell of a job. In 3 years I became 10 years older, lol.

From a webmasters point of view it's important that his traffic converts and therefore you need to offer him an effective toolkit and lots of free to use content.

Recently I tried to make an example TGP site with our own content combined with ComusThumbs to show other webmasters what you can do with our tools (247-porn.com ).

On the left our own TGP photo series from our girls and on the right some video galleries.

The best converting tools are the polaroid (flash) live banner and the simple chat component where random a live chat will be displayed.

Every day we learn and try to find the perfect combination to provide a profitable engine for webmasters and provide the best kind of quality for our members community.
