HDV 720i is1280x720 with a bit rate of about 5 - 6 Mbps
HDV 1080i is 1440x1080 with a bitrate of about 6 - 8 Mbps

True HD 1080i is 1920x1080 with a bit rate of 8Mbps or higher

Not dissing your content, as it looks good, but it's just another widescreen 16:9 movie..

why would anybody put true high def on the web? it would be suicidal to try to stream DVCPro HD at 100mbps on the web. the clip might not be high def for TV, but it sure could be for the Web.

and for your info this clip was compressed at variable bit rate, it actually peaks out at 8mbps believe it or not :)

I can get content at a lower bitrate than your sample while having the overall image look better and with more detail.

Hit me up if you want that type of quality. Most program owners don't seem to give a fuck about quality sometimes they actually surprise me.

well, of course it looks very good.

but it's a compromise, a balancing act. for the right surfer who can access these big files they will pay, problem is at this point in time that population is maybe 15%.

then there are increased BW and storage costs, nothing tricky about the encoding part, and this particular clip is unremarkable content wise.

truth is you could have cut that file size in half and had something "almost" as good image-wise for most surfers.

hi-rez it is a champagne product, and it's coming fast, and should be reserved for your most spectacular exclusive content.

i think you are about 12 months early to make any big ROI overall.

well that's the thing, i'm mostly trying to market to those with decent enough machines feining for rich media content.
it's almost like building high end condos for the the top tier. you know exactly who you target market is, definitely not them section 8 people (aol dial-up mofos with 2 megs of ram on their machines)
