America is doomed - "outsourcing jobs thread"

i now know that our economy is doomed :(

i was just called by a telemarketer from bengladesh :(

america cant even afford to use the ole automated telemarketing machine anymore so now they are paying PHDs in asia to do it for cheaper.

what has this world come too.

i am sad now :(

pr0 12-05-2005 06:55 PM

there are new laws on telemarketing, outsourcing it is actually smart

americans & europeans (as well as australians) are being groomed to become managers for the new world

someone has to organize work for india, china & the likes...& god knows they've shown they can't do it themselves

chin up sunny, chin up

I hear ya...
I made a phone call to my cell phone provider last week. After waiting quite a long time to get ahold of someone to help me, I couldn't even understand the guy. I finally gave up and told him I would just go to the store here locally. :Oh crap

Bluewire Ross 12-05-2005 07:00 PM

its brilliant, with a global economy a few countries will be managers and the rest will be employees, lol. i never thought of it like that before

Wow this is funny...

Two days ago I performed a major debate on why offshoring (outsourcing) is actually beneficial to the U.S. (in my MicroEconomics class) and I raped the crap out of the other side. Don't make me do it here.... :1orglaugh

BlackCrayon 12-05-2005 07:35 PM

microeconomics... you can't learn the real world from a classroom. sure you can blab your ass off but at the end of the day outsourcing is not good for the average american working as an employee for a moderate to large sized company. which is the majority of americans.

warlock5 12-05-2005 07:44 PM

I don't give a fuck what country someone is in. If they can do the job better and cheaper they get the money.

I agree. In the end what's important is where you get your money's worth

Dalai lama 12-06-2005 05:11 PM

Telemarkets rock, you can knock them off easily by asking,

What company do you work for
How did you get my phone number
Woud you like to purchase a 1 day free trial membership at Two in her butt

Works always :thumbsup

Validus 12-06-2005 05:14 PM

Maybe for line jobs? but the others are secure!

SmokeyTheBear 12-06-2005 05:27 PM

dont be sad, peope get the wrong idea about otusourcing..

You cant even sell cheap foreign made shit if nobody has a job..

Outsourcing just basically means , everyone who used to do those jobs will now move onto less menial , less work , higher paying jobs..

Could not agree more, we see a trend with people that hire from the western countries and from the bigger companies, they keep their existing employees which are used for managing the outsourced employees so that more product/services can be delivered.
They are adding to their business, not downsizing to save money with outsourcing, but using it to take a competitive advantage.

Where as the smaller companies tend to add one outsourced employee one at time, it can give these companies a chance to move forward faster by using outsourcing as a tool to do this.

As long as we can thin out the American population by 25 - 50 million people, outsourcing will be great. The down side is that if we don't, it's going to cause a revolution in the next 10 years when the combination of the new bankruptcy laws keep people from being able to Chapter 7 their way out of their upside down houses. Unemployed, lazy, fat, spoiled people who's jobs were shipped overseas because they'll do it cheaper and work harder don't tend to take it well when they can't feed their unemployed, lazy, fat, spoiled kids.

It'll take a major world war or a pandemic, but 10% to 20% of the population has to go, one way or the other. We're breeding ourselves into pandemonium.

ideally. now this example isn't oursourcing directly but a result of NAFTA. i used to live in a small rural area where most of the jobs were either agricultural or industrial. now about 10 years ago lots of factories shut down and moved to mexico or china to produce things cheaper. these people did not get better jobs. maybe some did, if they moved but if they stayed there was simply nothing left after 3 of the major factories left. most ended up on welfare, some took minimum wage jobs like security guard or cashier. what about those people? people who worked for a place for 20 years and get the boot? do you really think they can be re-educated for a better job?

Time to move to a 3rd world country and set up shop !

Just go with the flow !

sumphatpimp 12-07-2005 07:15 AM

send as much work as possible overseas.
eventually the buck a day drones will figure it all out for themselves and start their own biz, faster, cheaper and better.
then their will be no use for you.
and that is a good thing.

Ace-wtf 12-07-2005 08:28 AM

i think its a big mistake

outsourcing is a bad move for a company

companies need to keep up with greedy competition which drives these moves
in the workforce market.

Is it just me, or do those two statements contradict each other?

pornpf69 12-07-2005 08:37 AM

they have always used people from other countries to help them grow faster...but now people in US will start loosing their jobs to people outside US....soon US will be jobless...heheheh

tonton 12-07-2005 08:43 AM

imao, this is a good thing for asian countries like mine, the economy will rise due to 24 hour service. US is doing this for a reason, a good and beneficiary one.

I agree with you, BUT, if the person on the other end of the phone can't speak clear English, than they're NOT doing the job better.

you are right saying they can contrdict.
a company looses more than cash when they outsource, letting their info and knowledge spread out without control.

on the other hand they say they need to stay competitive or die.

so its a catch 22 situation.

i say not,

you need balls to pay more and raise your game in other fields.

Egomancer 12-08-2005 02:52 AM

Wrong, you outsource to earn things and the profit of the outsource thing comes back to you. IN the end the guy that outsources things 'owns' the company to which things are outsourced since he pays the money. So it is a smart move.

The alternative would be to let them develop alone and then they will be competition not 'slaves'.

Do the math...

The majority of Americans work as employees for a moderate to large sized companies?

That funny, because more than 50 percent of the workforce is employed by small businesses, which provide for more than half of the GDP. Small businesses are also the principal source of new jobs in the US economy.

Carry on though.

I didn't study this, but as an observer of the real world I conclude this:

Outsourcing = Competition
And competition is a key to the global marketplace

The ones that whine are the lazy Americans who are afraid of losing their jobs to more educated, respectful and hard-working people. Oh, and who work for much lower wages.

In the long run, this will make Americans overall smarten up and improve their own workforce.
