domain jacking?
ok here is the scenario:
this company went out of business. they leave behind no numbers, mail address, email, or any other contact info. their domain name is still live and resolving because it was prepaid for a year. the hosting company has no current contact info, but because the hosting was prepaid, hasnt removed the site. the domain is also paid up thru sometime next year. the local chamber of commerce doesnt know any other current info either. i literally have no way to contact the previous owners to see about buying the domain. moral question: do i jack the domain? or keep trying to find these people? * yes this is a nonadult company * |
Say I paid in advance for a year of storage space at a local rental facility. Would you jack my unit just because my space is empty?
|
Morally and legally you should wait. The domain is owned by somebody. Just because its not easy to find them doesn't mean they aren't using the domain or plan to use it in the future.
There's this house down the street that I want to buy. I think the owners are on vacation but I'm impatient. I keep phoning the house and sending mail there but nobody has answered me for a month. Can I just move in or should I keep trying to contact the owners? |
yeah i know its not legal. im waiting for sure. just thought it would be interesting to hear other people's opinions. i have someone trying to track down the former owners right now, but i dunno how fast its gonna go. *sigh*
