Why would they take a check in the first place?

"If" they MUST take a check, they should have the producers drive them to their bank BEFORE the shoot to cash it.

Real super wise. Passing bed checks is a crime and can be a felony. It also would void any release since the model was not compensated, and to boot the model will have a paper trail prooving it.

Ya would think they are just actively looking for ways to get arrested.

WEll I am no lawyer, but....

If a model agrees to post and release copyright to her image in exchange for compensation and the check bounces then the release becomes null and void.

I would contact a lawyer and file suit Because they are using images that technically belong to someone else, i.e., the models.

read the first post links, there still doing it, that's some
amazing shit.

THat sucks it gives us all a bad name, we pay with a company check. Things like this make it hard to pay that way and I dont blame the girls.

"Technically speaking" the images belong to the person who shot them. There is no law which states that a release is even required.

This is EXACTLY why you should always pay by check. A model could turn around and claim that you never paid her if you give her cash. By paying with a check it forces the model to cash it and that means that yet another person is checking her ID and that person is usually a bank employee which is connected to a federal system. So now you have yet another way to prove that she is who she says she is and is of age plus you get a copy of the cashed check showing that the model has been paid.

Could a model come back and sue you? Sure, you can be sued for anything these days but lets face it.....Most models are too broke to afford an attorney and most attorneys will not take a case like this on a contingency over a few hundred bucks.

The guys need to get their asses beat, nothing else will really relay the message correctly. :2 cents:

I've known about these guys since 2002. I booked with them also, but required they pay for the hotel upfront for our talent and then pay in cash. They paid for the room, but still tried the fake check thing. Fortunatly, I know they were going to do this and I booked a shoot with another client in the hotel they paid for.

As an agent, I have a policy that if a non-known company (someone other than Anabolic/Diabolic, Redlight, New Sensation, etc) can not provide at least 2 model references I only accept cash for the first assignment, after that checks are fine until there is a problem. As a company I certify that the models get paid. If the client screws over a girl, I pay her personaly out of my pocket. Needless to say, that hasn't happend to me yet.
