there are a lot of sites offering submission at a lot of search engines,

did you used one? did you liked them? anyone knows the best?

I don't know the company, Nick, but in my opinion submitting manually works as well, if not better...somehow I can't help feeling that these submission services are just one big rip-off.

IMO there's only like 5 or 6 BIG SE's worth submitting to,
notably Google, Altavista, Lycos DMOZ etc...

If anyone tells ya there's 1,000's of SE's out there they can submit your site too their lying to ya!

Besides you need to submit by hand to Alta Vista now because you have to enter a new submission code everytime

Its worth using a mass submitter to submit to the smaller directories, even if they only have a little traffic. I used to use AddWeb a few years ago and it worked well. $70 one time for the program, and it really does submit to a lot of smaller international search engines and small link directories... 'cause I used to get a shitload of "we will add your link soon" emails.

That was when I was building sites on my ISPs webspace. Good times. :1orglaugh

Well, if you look at most of the submitters, they'll say 1,000s of Search Engines AND Directories, so they kinda mislead ya there, but they are telling the truth when they say it that way, he he he. I'd like to know what their definition is of a directory.
