"intuitive eating" might have been viable for health before the advent of so-called "processed foods" or manufactured foods. it might be viable if you only had raw foods and fish to choose from.
the human body requires certain nutrients for proper health---which requires some conscious effort on the part of the consumer to decide within the myriad of offerings in the grocery aisle "what is best for my body".
there is no shortage of research which indicates what the body needs for nutrition.
IF you walk down the aisle of an america supermarket and fill your basket with everything you have a hankering to eat (foods that are formulated by a commercial economy geared toward profit to taste good and SELL) you may lose some weight but you will live a short, unhealthy life... sometimes the foods that are BEST for your body are not the most palatable...this requires a conscious decision towards nutrition, reading labels, etc., not intuition.
