Business Thread - Companies who use stolen toons in banners
 

Do you think it is cool to use copywritten and trademarked charachters in banners even though you do not have the right to do so?

There are many companies who do this, and i am wondering what the general opinion of this is.

You're a "designer", right?

You've seen the slop over the years other "designers" do.

Is it right - no.

But do you expect anything else from "borrowed / pilfered / ripped off" designs seen time and time again through out this industry?

i do some design yeah. but i pay license for all images and toons i use.

Not only toons, also copyrighted music etc... looks like they don't give a shit.

But other's don't.
And from the basis of this thread, other designers using copywrited materials is wrong.

Period.

I won't go into the "designers" thing here, but I've seen enough ripoff jobs. Then again, I'm sure you've seen the same, being a designer, and have felt that foul, acrid taste of stomach acid creeping up from some of the hackjobs out there touting themselves as designers.

in another couple years there will be better controls, till then ride it out & don't let it bother ya
