Is there any free software that will batch rename images in multiple folders?
Batch resize would be nice too. If nothing free what paid programs should I look at?

I use Lupas Renamer. Free soft that is really nice for renaming work.

If you can program, check out ImageMagik; you can batch resize and rename, as long as you can program it.
Otherwise, I use MS Excel to rename files. Get a directory list in DOS ( dir mydirectory\* > list.txt /B ), open up the list.txt file, paste it into Excel, write the renaming of it in another column, copy that into a text file and name it a "rename.bat" file and run it. Of course, that's a windows solution. Unix would be more of a shell script. |

http://www.herve-thouzard.com/module...hp?articleid=1 Donationware - so yah - it's free. I donated - it saves me so much time.. The interface is a little clunky - there's so many options it can be hard to find what you want. However, once you create a renaming scheme, you can save it and reload it at will. One of my favorite features is that you can rename files using the directory name. I set the directory name to something like "MET-Art-Liza-by-Voronin", the select Append Counter, using roman numerals, step by 3, start at 1, then open the folders list and click each folder once and rename all the files. You can batch the folder process, but since I usually only do 5 - 10 folders at once, I do that part manually. |
Irfanview can batch resize, and batch rename. and it's freeware

I always just write a script in perl to handle stuff like this...
