if it can be proven that the companies in question benefited from the slave trade, i would be all for restitution in the form of funds being paid to improve inner city schools, for scholarship programs for black students, etc. but, just paying people on an individual basis for something that didn't happen to them directly but to their ancestors, i can't support.

It can also be proven that many companies have profited from every war we have fought in. Should they have to pay the families of people who have died, since they did help facilitate the war, in which caused the death?

Next we'll have to pay off the Native Americans. And then we'll have to pay someone for Child Labor in the early 1900's, and then Woman Labor.

History is history. It can not be corrected. Me must learn from our mistakes, and grow. Holding grudges is pointless. Demanding money from people that had nothing to do with it is even more pointless.

Ok, so these companies benefited from slavery, and? The current CEO's, directors, employees, and stock holders had nothing to do with slavery.

So the law suit is won and the companies must pay a large sum of money. But they don't have the funds. They must fire 200 employees, 20 of which are black.

These people sueing... if they had a fucking brain... they would take it out and play with it.
