Traffic or Content, which is king?
In our industry which is king, traffic or content? There can only be one king tho :winkwink:
|
Very Simple BOTH
|
What good is traffic without content :2 cents:

Pointless having content unless there were enough heads thru the door. |
good content attracts the traffic.....
|
Entirely depends on your business model. Good content can attract traffic, but traffic without any real content at all can still make money.
|
Content is King, Traffic is Queen.

If you run a sponsor program, content.
If you have a tgp network, traffic. |
traffic is king
good traffic can sell anything good content cant sell itself |
Traffic is God, Content can be King
Plenty of content out there, not enough traffic.. ask any sponsor |
I'd rather have a shitload of traffic and no content. Traffic is king, content is only needed for the recurring money.
|
Content is King...
If you have a shitty King, your peasants will leave the kingdom to find a better King. |
CONTENT, no question about it
|
totally depends on your business model. Word of mouth really spreads with good content, so you aren't so dependent upon traffic, but it's good to have that initial burst to get it going.. I would say traffic is more important because you can make at least some money with traffic and bad content, but can't make a dime without traffic.
|
Obviously both... But you can sell traffic with a plain text page and no content, whereas all the content in the world isn't going to make sales without some hits.
|
I'd like to say Content because I wish that was the case, but MrIzzz already said it perfectly. Traffic has to be the starting point, content never markets itself and there are so many examples of sites with great content that screwed themselves for not realizing this.
|
Content is KING!
|
traffic I am afraid
|
traffic gravitates towards the content, therefor whomever has the content is king
|
well if you have a ton of traffic you can make cash with any content in the world!
and a hell of a lot more if you have good content to match! Ill go for neither of the 2! BUT If you dont have good partners and good friends you will never get any of the above. Trust and reliability is king in this business! |
Both definitly!
|
Traffic to get them, content to keep them.
|
Traffic needs content to make money. Period. You have to push traffic to something that will convert it to a sale - and that is content. Therefore traffic is subservient to content.
You can make money with good content and little traffic but all the traffic in the world doesn't mean diddleysquat unless you have something,i.e. content, to sell to it. |
without great content traffic is useless and the other way around. They are like ying and yang

content, you can send 20 million uniques to shit content and make nothing and send 20 uniques to good content and make money. Traffic is useless without content
|
Traffic all the way......... :thumbsup
|
Without content traffic is worthless, without traffic content is worthless!
|
Traffic is king. You can sell anything with the right traffic.
|
Both traffic and content need eachother, but personally I would much rather own a great source of traffic than some great content.
|
Enough traffic and you can sell anything.
To keep bandwidth down, I suggest one text link two words long. For example: Hardcore Partying |
Hard question to answer.
You can have a shitload of traffic but without the content you won't sell shit. On the flip side, you can have the best content on the web but if you have no traffic then it's worthless. If I have to answer then I would go with traffic. Power in numbers so if you have 1,000,000 visitors then there is a good chance that at least one will buy your content (regardless of how shitty it is). But with no traffic you get no chance for even one sell. :2 cents: |
traffic is king and content is queen

You may quote me on that:
Traffic is king, Content is Queen - but only together it makes a kingdom. JOKER - Steve |
Content is King is what most people say, but the content has to be good to get the traffic.... :2 cents: :love-boob
|
a combination of both...
|
Something to think about:
Would you rather own Playboy or would you rather be a Playboy model? |
Traffic.
|
traffic
_____ |
You content people are absofuckinglutely retarded. If you have a billion pics and videos it's worth exactly fuck all without traffic. Now if I have a billion hits of traffic I can sell it, send it to sponsors with good or bad content, or slap some fucking adwords on the page and get paid per click. You can make money on ANY AND ALL TRAFFIC but you cannot make money on content alone. End of story.
|
Interesting, I would say both, but that is not allowed I guess...
So here it goes When you have great content, and no traffic at all(and also no mouth to mouth talk, so traffic=none) you won't make any dollars When you have a LOT of traffic, and send it to a crappy memberarea, ppl will find that out AFTER they joined. So you would at least make a FEW dollars that way.... |
Neither works without the other and in this context even no-content is content...
Too many people approach this topic every one of the million-plus times it appears, assuming the word content implies good content and while the traffic people take it for granted their traffic will always have destinations, they don't allow the content people to make the same assumptions about traffic. I was going to answer that if I could only have one or the other, I would choose traffic, because there is less hassle finding a place to send my traffic than finding traffic to monetize content. That would have at least have allowed me to express a preference, but then I realized the paradox implicit in that reply ;) |
Would you rather own Starbucks OR a coffee plantation that grows coffee?
|
Traffic has been king in the past but quality content seems to be becoming more important to program owners.
Sadly, much of the content (custom and licenced) is still complete shit because that is the best way to make money as a content producer. Turn that shit out likc McDonalds turns out hamburgers. Why anyone still joins some of these lame sites is beyond me. There are many free sites with better content then pay sites. |

I guess another way of looking at it; distribution or product?
