An update on my current situation
Any of you who know me know that I haven't posted for about a week. I was involved in (another) car accident the day after thanksgiving.
I hit a tree because of poor weather conditions.. it was head on going about 65 mph. I have a small toyota corolla and was not wearing a seatbelt at the time simply because I was in a hurry and responding to a house fire call (volunteer firefighter) and yes, stupid not to take 3 seconds to put it on. So I was doing 60-70 and hit a big patch of snow at the top of a hill spinning the car sideways and out of control.. started heading directly for some very large trees and was of course trying to correct it. When it became apparent I was going to hit I grabbed and braced the passenger seat very tight, making sure my head was covered up as much as possible. On impact my car basically became a tin can. The Bad News: Broken right side femor (3" from hip) - complete, very clean break. Could see the bone protruding up in my pants. Broken right side scapuler (shoulder blade) - at the moment this hurts the most by far. A fracture just under the arm pit closer to the back area. Surgery - 19" rod inside of femor with pins at each end. For the scapuler they don't do anything for that it just heals overtime. Meds - 40mg Oxycontin 2x a day and 5mg Oxycontin every 4 hours as needed. The 40's are controlled release. Got discharged from hospital last night and I'm at my parents house because its quite a bit closer to the hospital than mine. Pain last night in the shoulder was some of the worst I have ever experienced. I went to the emergency room to see what was up. They didn't really know but gave me the most powerful meds they had. Demoral shot in my ass cheek and 20 mg morphine.. after a few hours I was feeling somewhat better. Now I'm back at home again and waiting until monday to get a time for the MRI to be taken. They think its a torn rotator cuff. Pain is not fun at the moment.. the morphine as wore off so i just have to wait it out really. The Good News: No back, neck, or head injury (as of yet). Anyways, have a good weekend.. I will try |

Anyway, I know what its like. Most of the bottom half of my right leg is metal - my tib and fib were in 15 pieces :( so I know that the pain is something that most cant imagine. Good luck with it and I hope that the Fire service are springing for your costs. |
damn, you got fucked up. Those demorol shots in the ass are heaven..
hope you feel better soon..pain sucks |
You think the scapula hurts... just wait for the rotator cuff surgery and rehab.
:Oh crap On the upside you're still here.... Best wishes on a speedy recovery. |
