Webmaster Party Cities
 

Question for everyone... but first some background. YNOT occasionally throws webmaster parties, usually in Mexico and also in Jamaica in the past. If YNOT were to throw one of these events in an American city, what would be your first choice? Personally I'm big on San Francisco and New York... the down side there though is that attending events in those cities can be a little expensive for those who go, where YP events in Mexico and Jamaica focus on being very inexpensive. But if you had your pick of American cities, which would be your preference and why?

Cleveland, Ohio

Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame-
Football Hall of Fame in Canton-
Home of the Porn business ( Reuben Sturman, GVA, Vivid's founder Steve Hirsch is from there-The Blatt Bros are form Cleveland as well as Mike Fold)-

It'd at least be nice to be able to see my parents and friends for a change

Cleveland is a cheap plane ticket from anywhere in the country-
Lot's of cheap hotels- and some fancy ones- Ritz Carlton being my choice and not too expensive compared to other Ritz's
Cleveland has an international airport
The Flats- a great area that is populated by bars and strip clubs
Cheap Transportation
Always a great rock and roll show in town
Cavaliers and Lebron James
Before anyone laughs- think about it from a practicality perspective

It's only two hours away from Pete KT

Mexico and Jamaica are just as filthy and disgusting- with the exception of Youngstown-
That would be my pick for biggest armpit city you can find to throw a convention

Virginia Beach

What about Key West? Anyone ever been there?

I'll give you a rundown of the kewlest Texas cities for gatherings:

Austin
bar/party boulevard that makes/MADE bourbon street look tame .. only lots CLEANER
College town - need I say more .. if so .. college gals galore
Lake Travis - Great recreational lake and perfect for parties
Mid America - so people from all over could attend
Reasonable Prices

San Antonio
the riverwalk (aka bar hop, food & shopping mecca)
The Alamo - seriously its just a little adobe church that John Wayne made famous lol
The Spurs hehe
Six Flags
Sea World
few minutes bus trip to Schlitterbahn (the travel channels #1 rated water park in the world)

South Padre
well if you guys don't know about this one just ask any content producer that shoots spring breaks lol

dam there is never any parties in Australia

Back in 99/00 Doug(Sharkysr) and I helped plan a few 'small' gatherings that dotted the US Map. We focused on keeping it somewhat localized yet tried to plan in all different sectors and limited to 200 or so attendees. They were mainly about networking in a more relaxed, quiet atmosphere in one hotel with a couple seminars and of course a nice party mixer in the evenings.

Later CE hired doug as their organizer and I bowed out but those were some of the BEST events for getting some serious contacts/work rolling.

The Phoenix Forum started out this way also with Kong, BB and the crew organizing .. to me, its still the best event by far and CCBill deserves cudos for taking over and keeping it successful.

I'd love for more SMALL events/gatherings to pop back up

let me know if your seriously interested because i am actually trying to figure out a way to have a NYC get-together myself. nothing crazy, just a 2 night thing with several parties across a few intimate lounges, with 1 night at a strip club...etc....
