King Kong Movie Review In...

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/liv...4&in_a_source=

King Konnnnng, you know the name of King Konnnng, you know the fame of King Konnnng, ten times as big as a mannnnn!

I can't wait. I will be first in line. The kids will be in school, everyone will be at work, I'll catch the matinee show and have 3 hours of action and adventure!

Screaming 12-02-2005 08:20 AM

I think its going to be pretty good.

hova 12-02-2005 08:22 AM

I'll definately go see it

Greg B 12-02-2005 09:08 AM

That review gives it high marks. We know the special effects are outstanding and with Jack Black in it, we know we'll be entertained. What really will be the test is if people have a connection with Kong.

Nightwind 12-02-2005 09:23 AM

I got low expectations of it, plus i hate Jack Black he is overrated.

Bansheelinks 12-02-2005 10:04 AM

I have a feeling, and have read a lot about it so far, that "King Kong" will be the movie of the year.

mikesinner 12-02-2005 10:26 AM

Have you seen the graphics on the new games? They look like your almost in the movie

Haven't played it, but I've heard all about it.

I also heard the line from someone who screened the movie, "King Kong":

"When other filmmakers see this movie and what Jackson has done, they are just going to fucking give up!"

Bansheelinks 12-02-2005 11:38 AM

This is what someone replied to on a board when another began whining that Hollywood is nothing but remakes lately:

".....Fresh ideas? Give me a break. There are only 31 stories, and variations on those. Joseph Campbell went so far as to say there was a "monomyth"... but from that monomyth we get all fairy tales.

I grant that remakes often spring from the minds of executives with limited imagination, who want to bet on a proven horse. But this remake springs from the mind of a director given a choice of any dream project he wanted. He chose this one out of passion, love, and wonder. I think you cannot lump that in with all remakes. This ain't Dukes of Hazzard, this is a fresh take on an old myth by the best director of our time."

I thought that was a pretty good reply.

pornguy 12-02-2005 11:53 AM

I think that in every aspect this movie will kick ass.

CNN Early Review, Transcript:

HAMMER: Time now for a SHOWBIZ TONIGHT exclusive. Director Peter Jackson`s "King Kong" is going to be released in theaters on December 14, but SHOWBIZ TONIGHT producer Jenny D`Attoma has already seen it. She was at the very first screening. She`s joining me live to give us a little sneak peek.
All right, Jenny, you get all the good perks with this job, don`t you?

JENNY D`ATTOMA, PRODUCER, "SHOWBIZ TONIGHT: I certainly do.

HAMMER: This has been in the works for nine years. Millions, literally tens of millions of people can`t wait to see this movie. What is your initial reaction to having seen it?

D`ATTOMA: My initial reaction is that Kong will be king at the box office. It really will. I mean, Peter Jackson did an amazing job in this movie. The effects, it just kept you at the edge of your seat for three hours

HAMMER: And is that what we`re going to be hearing people buzzing about? Because obviously, people are going to start writing about it over the course of the next week in the newspapers. What will be the biggest things that, you know, are going written about and buzzed about about this movie?

D`ATTOMA: I would say all the special effects, the scenery. He grew trees for Skull Island. I mean it was just unbelievable to see how much detail. The New York City streets in 1933, vintage cars, it was just -- it`s just extreme.

HAMMER: And certainly there are some surprise that, you know, I don`t want you to reveal because I don`t want any spoilers here, but let me in on something else, you know, since you got the inside track here?

D`ATTOMA: I just think seeing the enormity of "King Kong" on the screen and the way he looked so realistic and his empathy. And you see the way he plays off with Naomi Watts, you feel like he`s a person almost. You forget that he is this giant gorilla on screen.

HAMMER: And a lot of that comes down to special effects. As you said, those are spectacular. And Peter Jackson certainly was on the cutting edge of that with "The Lord of the Rings." He`s responsible for "The Lord of the Rings" movies, but he really even raised the bar with this film?

D`ATTOMA: Yes. He raised the bar, because he created New York City. He created Skull Island. He didn`t come to New York to do this. He did this in New Zealand on his own property, on his own lot. So it`s just amazing to me that all that was done on a stage.

HAMMER: All right. The original movie was done in 1933. The last remake was done in the 1970s. It was universally panned. This one will not be is what I`m sensing here.

D`ATTOMA: I don`t think so.

HAMMER: All right, Jenny. Well, good for you for having seen it. I look forward to it, as well. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT producer Jenny D`Attoma, thank you for joining us.

D`ATTOMA: Thank you.

HAMMER: And "King Kong" will arrive in theaters on December 14.

All Kong fans know that the original movie from 1933 had scenes that were cut from it for almost 60 years. They were scenes of natives being stomped, eaten, beaten to death. There were scenes of a giant spider eating dudes. Finally a scene where Kong is in NY and he is looking for Fay Wray and grabs the wrong woman and just drops her from like 50 stories to her death. Real gruesome shit. So with today's audiences we may be in store for stuff that couldn't be shown to earlier audiences. Some actors and actresses I know here appear in the movie. They're tight lipped. Jack Black frequents my neighborhood and he didn't mention the film at all. So we're all in for some surprises!

Now only if they did a remake of "King Kong vs. Godzilla".... ahh to dream :)

sonofsam 12-02-2005 03:14 PM

You probably set off SPANNOWS board tracker with "king kong"

Whoa..... haven't heard that little tune in like 30 years. :thumbsup

First time I saw King Kong was around 1968-69, I would have been about 5 or 6 at the time. It was the original movie, and it was... well, huge.

Several years later (1976 if memory serves, I was 12 at the time) my dad took me to see the remake starring Jeff Bridges and Jessica Lange. Again, very huge impact, but it just wasn't the same with Kong climbing the twin towers rather than the Umpire state building. :D

This latest rendition with today's film technology coupled with the epic proportions that Jackson brings to the screen should ensure this is one for the must-see list.

Greg B 12-02-2005 07:21 PM

Ain't it eerie that when the remake of Kong came out in the 70's people got jealous that it was the twin towers and not the Empire State Building...

Now, through a fate of twisted evil, the Empire State Building is now king of the NY skyline and once again Kong is on the way.

sniperwolf 12-02-2005 07:55 PM

Oh Shit.. I am so into this film.. This is the first and only film I was able to watch in theater with my mother.. that was a long time ago and that day was pretty special to me...

Greg B 12-03-2005 12:25 PM

I'm wondering if they're gonna keep in the 'Kong strips the girl' scene from the original. If you guys didn't see that, in one scene in the 1933 original, Kong literally starts to slowly peel the clothes off Fay Wray. It was soooo steamy. I doubt they'll keep it in this one. People would go apeshit if they had a sexy scene in a movie. It's okay for rampant mayhem and death but noooo... no sexy stuff!
