Porn sites to be shut down
Bangkok - Thailand plans to block more than 800 000 pornographic or violent websites that officials say are harming the kingdom's youth, Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra said on Saturday.
Speaking during his weekly radio address, Thaksin said he would order Thailand's Internet service providers (ISPs) to block websites deemed dangerous by the government, which currently bans about 2 000 sites. "I will warn the ISPs to do that first and if they don't follow the order, their licenses would be cancelled," he said. The ban, which affects both foreign and domestic-based websites, is likely to come into force before Thailand's Children's Day on January 14. ULTIMATE HYPOCRISY: Block pornographic site but not closing thousand of bars all over the country! |
Interesting that they will shut down porn sites, possibly blocking overseas ones like the U.A.E and China does but you still can get a foursome for the price of 2 cheeseburgers.

Shit, im gonna lose both my Thai surfers :(
|
who cares, Thailand is on the Visa Blacklist anyway, just saves me bandwidth.

It is going to be interesting to see how this will be accomplished.

I wonder if you can buy a Hustler magazine at a corner store in their country?
|
That could make it difficult to run your sites from Thailand. Although, whatever kind of blocking system they use, it will likely be full of holes anyways.

The "farang" sex scene basically began in 1964 when the United States established seven military bases in Thailand. This was followed in 1967, with Thailand's agreement to provide "rest and recreation" services to American servicemen during the Vietnam War, which the soldiers themselves called, "I & I (intercourse and intoxication)".

Anyone not doing that already, even before they started blocking sites, well they are putting themselves at risk. |

FYI, there are rings in the U.S. as well. Why Thailand gets all the bad rep over this and the U.S. don't? |

Kind of a silly quote :) It basically says " the sex tourist trade started when tourists arrived" , they certainly wouldnt be stupid enough to say prostitution started with americans arriving, because that would simply be untrue. |
We're not talking about american's here. We're talking of Thai government hypocrisy.
