Visiting the US (off topic)
 

Hi all,

I'm planning my summer vacation now and i am thinking about visiting the US with my brother. I would like to combine relaxing on the beach and partying with experiencing the cool stuff I see in movies from the USA. I'm mostly interested in the us culture, not in historic or nature stuff.

I understand that movies are not representative for the whole of the US but i do know that the US is a country of extremes. Off coarse I want to see the extreme cool stuff and not the boring stuff so please let me know where I should go.

Please tell me about the coolest beaches where I and my brother can have fun. I would also like to learn about the 21 years old rule for clubs and bars since we can go to bars aged 16 here and I would like to have my brother (aged 20) with me when I?m having fun.

You might also check out Compton, CA You may have seen some of it's beauty on MTV, or in the movies. It's a great "multi cultural" experience.

Right here in Hollywood, I can drive an hour and 1/2 north and snowboard, or drive an hour and 1/2 west and I can surf. Drive 45 minutes and hike the Southern California Canyons, or go to the desert and ride dirtbikes.

As for Compton being multicultural, thats only Hollywood and NWA showing you this. Compton, is an industrial smokestack town, bunch of wharehouses and ghetto. It aint all thugs and hoes, LOL

Does anyone know if it is possible to hire a car when you are foriegn? if so what are the rules?

I also would like to shoot with a gun, the bigger the better. Here in Europe guns are not allowed so i would love to shoot with one;-) Is it alowed to fire guns without a licence or something or not?

New York- the Hamptons- you have the beaches and lots of bars, clubs, and lounges. You are also an hour and a half away from NYC!:winkwink:

and yes you can hire a car but the rules are different at each car rental company some of them require that you have a drivers license for at least 2 years just check a few of them

I seriously have noticed all cities mentioned: Wyoming, Crater Lake Oregon (is there really beach?) , Compton, CA (multicultural is cool I?m from an other culture but i don't want to be in danger!) etc.

For parties and cool beaches south florida is the place you are looking for. If you come to south florida make sure you stay in south beach or in miami beach. And if you come to miami, go to the club "space". It is one of the best clubs in the world and they play really good music.

Also for driving , you can use your drivers license for 60 days from the day you entered the Usa. But, some companies may not give you a car with your drivers license. That's why you may wanna get a international drivers license before you come. It is just a paperwork, you don't need to get any exams or anything. It should not cost more than 15 bucks.

For the id thing, you can get it a club when 18 but in order to drink alcohol, you have to be 21. Because clubs don't want people to come in only for dancing, most of them do not let you in if you are not 21. That's why you have to get a fake id for your brother. It does not have to be complicated one though. Just make a one in dutch, you will be fine...

Most movies now-a-days take place in the US, but are filmed in Canada, mainly because of the exchange rates (and our beautiful fucking scenery) :)

When you loose your leg, that would be the least of your worries. And if you go a little further from Boston, to places like Glouster, where the movie "Perfect storm" was filmed, you will find the most clear and clean water.
