On a side note, what is "SOFTWARE DEVELOPENT"? There's a typo in that first link you posted :)

3d studio max, love the program use it myself, but you guys need alot of work on your lighting and textures, but that is a very nice start modeling wise

tony286 11-28-2005 08:01 PM

yup. Lighting and textures are what sell. Models can be infinitely complex, but texture and realistic lighting are what make it look good.

I haven't done 3d in years now, but texturing was damn hard. Usually companies have painters do textures. its more of a 2d skill in my opinion.

What do you use to render?

wedouglas 11-28-2005 08:05 PM

Dont most packages offer global illumination and the such out of the box nowadays?

Back when 3dsmax 4 would out, I think Brazil and Mental Ray were the only ones.

Very nice work! I dabbled with Maya when I was in school but got out of it to pursue other things. I really wish I would have stuck with it.

We deffinitely could. The comment someone else made though rings true that it would be pretty pricey.

We could do a 3d look with lower detail within 3 days or so, which would price it at 600.

Super high detail of a human can take a couple of weeks though. A lot of rendering :winkwink:

i made this when i was getting pretty into maya:

http://66.197.63.28/trex/T-RexBackGray_Small.gif

i have plans to get back into it in the future, when other things are going smoother.

Not bad at all for modeling. Get some good texturing and you'll be hot to trot :thumbsup
