Iwantu vs. AFF vs. Plentyoffish
 

Being single again I thought I would look around and knowing a bit of the inner workings of dating site platforms I figured I would have pretty good luck. Wel.. here's the break down.

Iwantu:
Very simple to use. No brainer. Searching profiles is a breeze. The payment structure and use of tokens is kinda strange and discouraging though. Also, if youa re from a sub 100k metropolis you're wasting your time. Just not enough profiles online everywhere yet. WIll grow in time though.

AFF:
Man... I never saw so many horny chicks in my area in my life. Skinny, athletic, chubby, desperate housewives, horny college chciks.. it doesn't end! You see lots of tits, pussy, ass shots everything. Very direct in what they want which is usually sex or friend to lead to sexual relationsip (exclussive and non exclussive)... or so it appears. Most of them on there are just teasing and making the profiles seem appealing to reel you in then not responde or responde very little. Out of every testimonial I read on their profiles it seems NOBODY has ever met them nor even know them at all. ok.. so ya gotta keep fishing and dig deeper and change your profile a bit to make things more appealing for those who are using sexy advertising to reel in a long term relationship. Oops. my profile just got locked for review and I am unable to send email. Takes awhile to get unlocked. No sense going chatting or searching for girls until it's unlocked so I can email someone. The price is also quite high. Until you learn to use this site and weed out the real potentials from the teasers you'd spent quite a bit of money. In fact, you pay $20 extra a month JUST to allow standard members to contact you. If you are a standard member you're pretty much useless as a male on this site. WOuld be a smart idea to give all verified women at least silver status to make things easier for the men who sign up and pay for elevated access.

Bottom line.. great site.. loads of features and has a community feel to it. Paying males are being ripped off to an extent though because they have to pay more to get females to contact them unless you find the 1/1000 female with elevated access. Beyond those hurdles and with time youc ould get really good hookups and make some good friends or possibly more. Patience is a virtue here.

Plentyoffish.com:
Free. yep. FREE.
Very simple to use. I knew where everything was after just a couple minutes.
Fast system, ACURATE searches and match reports and a kickass contact system. Tons of members. Not quite as many as the payment type dating sites but more to choose from in smaller metropolan areas and more desirables. I have met quite a few people though it.

Now how could a FREE dating site be kicking AFF and Iwantu's ass?

Time to look at your business models guys. As a surfer looking to get laid how would this all be viewed? Seems to me some of the big guys are going to start losing money.


Anywho. just my observations.

I have yet to check out dating gold's site.

First I'd like to say thanks for the honest feedback on our site.....the payment system is one thing that will be enhanced in the near future, so people can either have an unlimited membership (24.95/monthly or so), or a tokens-based membership (4.95/mth + pay-on-demand for tokens). It's been a big issue for discussion that we will finally be changing soon :)

I think for a surfer, free sites have lots of advantages (obviously the top being they are free). However it remains to be seen if the site can turn a profit and how long it stays around. Not a lot of sites properly monetize their traffic trough only advertising (I haven't checked the site out yet but I imagine that's hwo they make money?)

I guess time will tell on this subject, but I can say I think the big guys will adjust their model if it comes to that....those who won't, will drop out.

Plentyoffish has a pretty good ROI. Ironically they upsell to places like AFF and such for their revenue. The owner is a one man operation. Runs everything himself. Even coded the script himself to use minimal resources. His costs... $5000 a month.. profit? From what I read about he makes that a day. So that's pretty decent. The guy is a marketing and SEO genious. His site has grown at incredible leaps and bounds.

Now what would happen to him if his sponsors decided to cut him off as being in direct competition with them? WHo knows.. he may just buckle unless he finds other advertisers.

He is using adsense. They probably do not know they are helping him.
