Question for you Bloggers (Biz Question)

Trolls leave.

Why would you put a blog on for example blogger.com or other types of sites like that? Reason I ask this.... Lets say you got a nice blog going then poof then term you for whatever reason.... its history. Why not host em yourself?

Let the discussion begin.

Ill be back in afew.

i think it was convenient and easy at first to go with it, but for long run it sux... at any moment they can dump your site, and you've lost it all... best is to go with your own domain/hosting/wordpress :pimp

you dont get indexed any faster by where the blog is. it depends on your incoming links. if your blog is on the blogger domain its already a trusted domain and has much more authority than any of your own domains you can use. plus if you set up a new domain it will be sandboxed for 6 months to a year or so in no time.

jacked 11-28-2005 04:41 PM

i never really messed with blogger but i'm sure theirs a hell of a lot more flexability as to what you can do to your blog i don't know if they give you the ability to fully customize your blog or not

what if you add a blog to an older domain?
and what if the domain is old, but hasn't been online for a while?

Steve 11-29-2005 09:27 AM

You can do pretty much what you want with the templates as long as you take care not to screw up stuff after <!-- blogger -->

I totally agree with you: use blogger.com (benefits of spidering) and host it on your own domain and hosting... ;)

blogger can host blog on your domain with the ftp option...
