Hard Talk - Jean Marie Le Pen

Whoa!!!

Hats off to Stephen Sackur for taking this guy on. It was obvious that he M. Jean Marie Le Pen is a character.

But I've said it before and I'll say it again. His views and attitudes exist in varying extents amongst the general population of France. Not everyone is as extreme as he is, but he does ear of French public.

And what scares the crap out of me is that he is going to run for President in 2007. But than again, M. Sarkosky scares me even more!

Racism is a disease and a plague.
Hatred is a disease that needs to be inoculated against with education.

Sorry but nobody is interested in French politics. As in really nobody.

Are the cars still burning in the streets over there or what?

Odin88 11-28-2005 02:15 AM

Wow, he is running for president? We better stop it before someone gets elected that actually represents the populations opinion on immigration! Too bad for this annoying democracy thing.

Not really but it depends on who you ask.
The current trend is to say that every year that apx. 3,500 cars are burned.

I guess it's no secret I'm attend civil and human rights meetings and events.

I was at a meeting 3 weeks ago and what blew my mind away was that currently there is a growing opinin that...

1) The Vichy government wasn't "all that bad."

2) The Nazis and the Hollocaust are "just a deposition of history."

The arrival of this information came from a survey that was randomly administered across france to 8,000 different people with a margin of 4% error.

Please, don't get me wrong, but I must say something...

IMHO, problem is in the ppl who come to France and want to change country, not to become part of the country.

That said, you just come to France (couple months ago), and you already made 100's of post here against that country. If I can ask, wtf you are doing there if you don't like it? You want to change it?

:2 cents:

I've been here longer than a "few months." And don't put words in my mouth. I attack racism no matter where it comes from. Lets just say I'm a firm believer in cleaning up the backyard you are currently in.

If you're going to be part of the E.U. and the greater world economies...

1) Than you have to stop thinking about yourself and what preference of "face colour" you like to look at.

2) Being country based on western society means that "Intergration" is learning the dominant language and nothing more. You get to keep your religion, customs, etc.

And if you are contributing member of that country, you get to critisize and work towards changing it. The right to lobby and work to improve a society is not only implied but guaranteed by the rights of "Freedom of Speech" or "Freedom of Expression." And I checked, the French rights include them.

To put it more basic for you...
I live here,
I work here,
I pay taxes here,
I support local business,

Therefore I have the RIGHT to say whatever the hell I want. If you do NOT like it... Well that's too fucking bad!

**No one is holding a gun to your head and forcing you to read my comments or listen to my opinions.**
*** Put me on ignore, SVP. ***

3) And you are part of the E.U. There is a certain level of standards you have to adhere too. Human rights and guarantees of equality for minorities and migrants must be maintained. As do certain standards of economic abilities.

*** IE: Equal rights for everyone and a good business enviroment for both French citizens and foreigners. ***

And if the French people don't like these facts. Then they should lobby their goverment to pull out of the E.U. and stop participating in western organizations.

But let me go on record and state exactly where I'm comming from....

"Every humanbeing in this world is obligated to do more than just "Eat, "Sleep" and "Excrete."

If you're not concerned about the world you live in... Well that's your problem, not mine.

I think the French population showed their opinion when Le Pen made it to the second round in the elections a few years ago.
Maybe he will get 2-3% more votes this time due to the rioting, but he will never be president :2 cents:

You're right, he is too old. But in 40 years someone just like him will be. You think every single European nation is just going to hand over their nation to Muslims? It simply won't happen. If they manage to keep someone out of parliament through character assasination in the media, jailing and banning parties (i.e. the vlaams blok), even killing leaders (i.e. Pim Fortuyn, etc) the only thing it will achieve is to make sure more and more people forget about politics and start getting violent.

You know guys like him scare the snot out of me.
Can you imagine what would happen if he or worse.... someone like him did get elected.

Can you imagine if someone who actually believes the same way he does BUT hides it until he gains power.... Wow I don't even want to consider the possibilities of the damage such a person could do.

We all talk about democracy but....

And this might be a "contradiction in terms."

Democracy ends when an elected official has a political platform of "hatred" and/or "in-equality."

Don't forget that Hitler was democratically elected. Thousands of Jews, civilians and servicemen might have lived had he not been permitted to take office.
