Design pics

Would any one like a disc of different good looking girls standing against a blue wall and properly lit for designing banners and front pages?

Just had a suggestion from our designer here about how long it takes him to lift a girl from the background.

ServerGenius 03-24-2002 03:29 AM

Yes that would be very nice...make sure it also got some sitting,
lying on object poses with that...good to "drape" the girl on top
of design objects....Let me know when it's available!

I prefer a white wall..

Paul Markham 03-24-2002 08:37 AM

Might see if I can do someting on every set I shoot and put it in with a set and then do a compliation disc, once I have enough.

Also going to shoot the girl holding a white board on the set, so you can write something on it.

must not be any good then... tell him to stop crying, because the background is irrelevant. You still gotta go through the erasure whether it's trees or a building or a couch or a blue wall.

XXXPaysiteDesign 03-24-2002 01:28 PM

Yep, amp is right, it shouldn't take a good designer long at all to remove the background from an image.

overseaspimp 03-24-2002 06:28 PM

Yeah, I agree as well. The important thing for you to do Charly is to make sure you have a few pics of the girls in full body tour'ish poses. Make sure no limbs are cropped or obstructed at all.

I wish more content providers would do this because I am tired of seeing everybody use the same damn 20 pics from that content provider on the ranch. I'm not knocking them because they are one of the best content providers... but Jeesus! If I see one more pic of the same pics of India or Aria...

kmanrox 03-24-2002 06:35 PM

either way its a good idea, matrixcontent.com has a lot of good pics with gauge and numerous others in that format

zubr 03-24-2002 07:35 PM

thats exactly the way they do it!

Paul Markham 03-24-2002 11:58 PM

AMP I'm paying the guy by the hour, 1 click with the magic wand or 30. Up to you.

And I suppose if it's the way Warner brothers, etc. with all their money do it it's good enough for us.

The problem with using the magic wand to crop the background, is that you are gonna get a very harsh edge on the image, that will be VERY visable depending on the background color of the page it is going on ...

http://www.a1websolutions.com/avatar.gif
(This image's background was cropped with the magic wand)

If your sites' background is a light color you might get away with it ... but not the dark ones !! If you want a quality design, you should not skimp on it ... use the eraser tool !!! :thumbsup

bhutocracy 03-25-2002 02:55 AM

eraser tool????? no way man... frikin' PATHS gives you the juice!! :)... actually eraser is good if you've got a wacom... but otherwise mouse motion based stuff isn't the best IMHO.. you never get those crisp arching lines..

Zoomed in maybe 600% with a 1-3 pixel tip you can ... :Graucho

bhutocracy 03-25-2002 03:09 AM

white backgrounds are ok sometimes though.. not for the magic wand though.. (unless the image is pretty big and you're re-sizing it to 20% or so.. where the "halo" effect is lost..) but for designating the layer effect as "multiply" and using a white airbrush underneath the bodyareas to bring them up.. especially for dark haired girls this allows you to forgo the tedium of hair tracing/erasing if you're time pressed..

heheh :) i know.. but gee that takes a while.. (and thank christ for optical mice.. i remember erasing at 600% with some pretty dirty mice balls.. trying to get that edge.. left hand on the ctrl-z readyt to de-fuckup :)
a nice path gives the same effect.. plus jpegs carry path information.. when i have to do more boring work i feel like blowing the guys that leave paths in some of the shit i've had to cut out :)
plus i believe a path gives a finer edge which is a bonus when you're making transparent PNG's out of your objects.. less feathering means less info in the alpha channel.... lower file sizes

Hypo 03-25-2002 03:33 AM

Get at least an optical mouse if not a digital tablet for any kind of photoshop work.

bhutocracy 03-25-2002 03:40 AM

charly, take it a step further and charge a 10% premium on pre cut out girls. Get your designer to earn his wage and cut out those "made for tour" sets.. bump up the price to cover his labour costs divided by how many sets you'll sell.. either send them as a zip full of psds or a bunch of jpeg's with path information.. and give me a free set or two for the idea :)

overseaspimp 03-25-2002 08:32 AM

That was the best Idea I've heard all year. Why did it take that long to hear it?

There are some lazy content people out there.

Amputate Your Head 03-25-2002 08:37 AM

I can't believe you guys.... the *magic fucking wand*???

good grief. :ugone2far

if I ever resort to using the magic fucking wand because I'm in a hurry.... I will hang this shit up.

Jakke PNG 03-25-2002 09:29 AM

The magic wand is useless and the result looks like shit :2 cents:
I'm no pro and I know nothing, but I get along with photoshop like this:
enlarge the image as much as you feel like it, zoom in and use the lasso tool. But as I've stated numerous times, I'm a moron and I advice not to listen to me.:)
