Making your own and getting some common ones are a wee bit different.
If your talking penicillin, amoxicillin, septra, etc. Then it honestly does not matter much if you get it at a pharmacy or at a farm supply store. Well the price is sure in the hell different.
I still would not skip out on the doctor portion though never less. You do need the proper work ups done to know what type of meds you need and if they will work on that given strain.
My point was on these common antibiotics they are identical except for the packaging, pricing, and the milligrams per pill. They are never expired and they are what they claim they are. Unlike some online purchases of meds.
