Ratios on average getting worse?

I mean seriously over the years - are they dropping?

I was use to 1:300 as average back in the day. That progressed tp 1:500, 1:700, now the average looks to be 1:1000.

Anybody got some intake on this?

Oh, and please don't use this thread as a exploit. Example

"Our program is converting better then ever :) "

or..

"I am making records sales this week - converision ratios are improving with time"

Dirty F 11-26-2005 04:39 PM

Yes.
If you compare normal bannes/textlink clicked traffic now with 5 years ago its very lousy.

Ofcourse you can filter like crazy and end up with 1:50 ratios but thats not the point. 5 years ago i could throw up a banner from whatever site and get steady 1:100 ratios. Now that would easily be 1:1000.

phonesex 11-26-2005 04:39 PM

back in 98-99, I was converting 1:75 with Maximumcash. Now my conversions average about 1:750.

Not phone sex though. phone sex converts very well with repeat callers every month for years.

sandman! 11-26-2005 04:40 PM

yea ratio's have gone to 1:1000 overall nothing you can do about it will not get better in the end its becoming more of a volume game what you could do with 100k in traffic a few years ago now you need 200k of the same traffic to make the same $$$

tony286 11-26-2005 04:41 PM

I really have seen it this year this is the time sales usually go thru the roof and its very even.

MrJackMeHoff 11-26-2005 04:48 PM

1:70 to 1:300 at worst

kenny 11-26-2005 04:48 PM

My traffic contunes to grow - but my ratios also decrease. While I'm not losing any money it seems like I should be getting more.

It's not my fault - I market everything right and it's not like you grow worse with experience.

So I wonder why?

Were not talking about mailing obviously.

If the sponsor reports true 1st page clicks....1:900-1K is the norm....

pornguy 11-26-2005 04:56 PM

I think that mostly this trend is dues to a few factors.
1. the surfer is smarter.

2. Too much free stuff. And I am not only talking about tgp/freesites. I am talking about HC images in the tours, and the free videos.

SmutGiant 11-26-2005 04:57 PM

there are many possible reasons why ratios are declining... maybe what the surfer is looking for has changed... maybe you're not offering what your surfers are looking for... or the surfer has seen it all and/or is satisfied with his 2-3 paysite memberships which give him access to 50 bonus sites... maybe the need to pay for porn isnt as great due to the HUGE amount of free porn out there... i'm sure there are many more possible reasons.

Because the traffic is easier to get.

BTW, I wasn't pointing out a certain type of traffic - I was giving a overall number.

SE traffic that use to convert 1:100 that now converts 1:300 is similar to TGP traffic that use to convert 1:400 but now converts at 1:1200

P2P is certainly not helping

kenny 11-26-2005 05:06 PM

Do you think it has something to do with computers and the internet becoming more accessible?

I mean 5 years ago not everyone had a computer.. now everyone seems to have one.

kenny 11-26-2005 05:08 PM

I mean 5 years ago you could spend over $1000 for a decent desktop - you can get the same one for $400 today - with a free flat screen upgrade or whatever

High Quality 11-26-2005 05:11 PM

I hate to say it, but we are always in the 1:500 range. Worst TGP affiliate does 1:1400, best in the 1:100's.

Honestly I started recurcash cuz I too couldn't find a damn sponsor that converted anymore. 1:1000 is a fucken joke if you ask me.

BlackCrayon 11-26-2005 05:16 PM

yep, when i started i had a solid 1:50 for my celeb sites for a couple years. now im averaging about 1:800-1000. quick answer why: surfers are smarter, been online longer, know where to find so much free stuff they could never even download it all.

3. There were more cheap trials before, so no wonder ratios were better that way. There are also more connected surfers with percentage less money. Bandwidth is much cheaper, but porn is really not. If the ratio drops 10 times, but number of surfers is multiplied by 20, you should make more money...
And as you also say, surfer is smarter. I have the feeling that its not only affecting how they find find free porn, but the ratios can be affected by the supply of paysites too. They are not that impulsive anymore, and might surf more paysites before they choose which site to signup with and this will give "worser" overall ratios.
So in the end, its not ratios but $$ that counts :)

bigdog 11-26-2005 05:41 PM

i don't have any sponsors that are doing worse then 1:500 but i like to filter traffic at times

Dalai lama 11-26-2005 05:42 PM

Ratios are going up, nothing compared too a few years ago

kenny 11-26-2005 05:53 PM

It's funny

I was looking at AVS sites and galleries that I've built years ago - the ones I remember doing well. They look like complete shit :1orglaugh

But they done their job :winkwink:

Rui 11-26-2005 06:37 PM

Yes good ratios overall are harder to achive nowadays than in 2001 for example.

IMHO it passes by effectivly targetting to your visitors, filter them aswell providing them with something different (not talking program wise but the way you "play" with the advertising side of things.

just my 0.02 eurocents

I don't see how easier accessibility to the internet would reduce sales. In fact, I think the reason why internet porn blew up is BECAUSE of the fact that it's so easily, and anonymously accessible.
