Porsche Carerra S or Mercedes SL 500
 

I am thinking of buying a new car still, and have narrowed it down to one of these 2 cars. What one do you like best and why ?

Carerra 4S would be my choice.. they just did a face lift for 06 and the benz has been around since 03..

Anyway, I guess that I would go with the SL500.

Carerra S, but watch out where you park, Saw 2 more Carerra's today driving without headlights, because they were stolen. See atleast 1 a day.

Well my current Boxter is getting quite old. 6 years. And I need a new car to drive the hour commute to Friend Finder offices. I will prolly Lease it so I can write it off. I am not going for the SL65 or the GT :) Those are a waste of money. I also have been talking about buying a new car for a year.. but I cant wrap myself around the fact that I am spening like a lifetime supply of Top ramen on a depreciating asset.


So I like the Carerra cuzz it has back seats and I can stuff my kids back there. It also has more power than the SL 500. I like the SL500 due to the Hard top convertible, If the carerra had that I would buy it for sure. Plus my current car is a Porsche so I already have experienced that. Another plus for the Mercedes. My wife says Porsche any day as she says it just looks classier than teh benz.

Porsche NO doubt......mercedes is a great car....but Porsche is just UNIQUE.....try to get the turbo, if you like big engines and performance you will NEVER regret that decision! :pimp

its less expensive but i think looks hotter than the carrera...i figure if i get it all hooked up it will compare speed wise to the 4S love the cayman body style

Id go with the Benz.

Either way theyre both good choices.

Go with the Porsche for the kid factor. The Benz is nicer but you have to be able to take the kid with ya. Or just wait for the Cayman and use the extra money to pickup a Denali.

I've owned 6 Porsche and 2 Merc's in my life time and i would always pick a Porsche over a Merc any day. My present 968 is a classic and goes like shit off a shovel. Fast enough for the roads in San Diego anyway. So i vote Porsche very reliable cars IMHO!

i owned a 2004 black sl500 and had more fun with that car than any other car i've owned. plus all the hidden compartments inside make it like a batmobile.

Lars, If I was you, I'd get a Porsche 911 turbo convertible. Nothing handles like a porsche. You might get a faster car, but the handling is night and day. Ever since Mercedes and Chrysler merged, their cars are fucked. My last "S" was a piece of shit.

I am not much of a car fan anymore. Driving in Germany is way too much stress. I?d choose a Mercedes S 55 AMG with driver :)

I guess, got for the Porsche, they are good cars. The Mercedes isn?t much of a sports car, unless it?s a 55 AMG but even it likes to mess up.

Validus, thats fucked up how you put it. I prefer a convertible and some people pefer hard top. Funny how every sport car company makes convertibles.
