Check this shit out (Xbox 360)

I thought that retailers were locked into a set price for gaming consoles by the manufacturer. These fuckers are taking orders for $850 for a system that will ship (maybe) on December 12th. Wonder if Microsoft knows about this.

:Oh crap

It the words of Bob Dylan...

The moral of this story is very plain to see.
Make your money while you can, before you have to stop,
For when you pull that dead man's hand, your gamblin' days are up.

What do you expect. The sad thing is, that the systems are crashing.

StuBradley 11-25-2005 06:06 PM

Well, I sold 2 on eBay and made a nice profit but the thing is that RETAILERS are not supposed to go above (or below) the set price of $399 for this system. If it were allowed Best Buy and Circuit City would be charging $800 for the system and WalMart would have them for $329.

:winkwink:

it is sorta like if you bought one and came to GFY and sold it for a 200 profit

some thing ;)

Yes, except that I did not get 2,000 units directly from Microsoft and I do not have a contract with them that says I cannot sell my Xboxes for $800. But yeah, other than that it's the same thing.

:Oh crap

Microsoft sets a suggested retail price. They choose who can/cannot buy xbox's directly from them.

Retailers in order to stay competitive and in bed with Microsoft usually do not deviate too much from the MSRP. Going to low or to high will usually upset Microsoft.

This is true on most products but NOT GAMING SYSTEMS. Name one brick and mortar retailer that is selling a 360 Premium for a dollar more or a dollar less than $399.00. The price on gaming systems is not not "suggested" it is written in stone.
