They can't do whatever they want, really. Economically, they still need the US (and, to a lesser degree, Europe), and they know it - not to mention that they are no match for the US militarily. In fact, when pressured the right way they actually do budge.

The combination of the free market and China is not something to fear, but rather something to - cautiously - welcome. It can potentially be both a benefit to the entire world economy, as well as a benefit to freedom and civil rights for the people of China.

They will slowly be forced to change their ways.. Hell there was an article on Yahoo the other day about China working on changing their patent laws to come in line with the WPO.

I'm hitting up Beijing next month, I'll be visiting Mao's tomb in the center of Tienanmen Square.
