Anyone have any experience with Servals?
I am going to buy a Serval. Anyone ever dealt with one?
They say good housepets so long as you dont have any small children or smaller pets. Males get up to 45 lbs, its alot of damn cat. Ill find a pic. http://www.htcirclecexotics.com/Mont...ng_profile.JPG |
LOL
What do you need one of those for ;) Shotguns will get rid of tresspassers! |
I want to get stoned and watch 40lb African cat walk around my house. And play with it. You dont want to play with a large pussy?

I loved my Serval until it ate my Great Dane one night:Graucho

me and Garry will pay you a visit soon for this pussy

a shotgun might get rid of the trespassers, but that cat will get rid of their bodies as well, a nice, economical solution...:thumbsup

I aged 30 years just driving around there. I dont think Mexicans know what turnsignals are and dont care if there is oncoming traffic, they will pass you. Lines in the road? Pushaw, surely you jest! Other than the 15 heart attacks I had while driving, and the constant 100 degree weather that roasted my pale ass every single day, the Yucatan ruled. Merida was awesome. |
I used to be in the exotic animal business so I know a bit about this stuff. Servals are considered one of the better cats to own. That being said, think long and fucking hard first.
If you really want one, wait 6 months. If you still want one, go for it. Make sure the dealer will be there to help you with it, this is not a housepet and they never really get tame no matter how socialized they seem to be. I would never trust one around children. Anything small that runs is prey - don't let a broker tell you otherwise. Animal brokers/dealers/breeders tend to be the scum of the earth - 1 in 1000 is worth a shit and these guys are almost all thieves and fly by nighters. I've seen *tons* of people get in trouble with animals like this. 95% of the time it does not work out no matter how well intentioned or educated the owner is. Be sure they are legal to have where you live. Some places strictly prohibit this stuff, some don't care, some require a permit. Depending on where you live, anything so slight as a scratch can get you in all kinds of shit and most likely get the cat put to sleep. Yeah, they are cool but I urge you to wait a few months and see if you still really want to do it. |
awesome, thanks for the reply. Damn near have me talked out of it. We have been looking into this for some time.
Initially we were looking at Caracals, but those damn things scared me. Amazing cats though. Havent really looked at much larger than that, everything Caracal and smaller is legal where I am. Looked at the Jungle cat hybrids, Savanah cats, Bengals, etc. And you are right, I have noticed that there are dealers that are very strict, inspect your house, permits, interviews etc... then some that are just like "want a cat? gimme cash". If we get it, it comes as a bottle fed 8 week old kitten. Then its up to us to declaw and fix it. I dont like declawing, but if it can kill me... its getting declawed. Plus every breeder page out there says to do it. Thanks for scaring me though, this is the side of the story I want. |
Hit me up on ICQ if you have any questions. Glad to have been of help.

Visa does still process beast, there is a new processor in the Netherlands called ComfortPay that is run by the Berger crew. Its a regional ruling gonadboy. I wish I did run beast, big money in beast. |

FUCK it's cool...:) hey how big is the kitty littler box for one of these things?... btw. isn't anubis a dog/jackel god? |
Well, good luck with it. One thing to remember is to never take it in public because legal or not, people will fuck with you about it. I've seen it a thousand times. Never let it give you those playful bites that kittens do and if it does, reprimand it. Also, never let it to jump on you, even in play, because when this cat gets big, that is how it might try to kill you. What happens is that they can forget they are playing and switch to a "kill" or "hunt" frame of mind which they cannot control. So, train it now that that kind of shit is unacceptable.
You should also know that if it bites someone and that bite is reported, your cat will be put to sleep to be tested for rabies. A current vaccination *will not* matter. This has been challenged in court many, many times and the cat always loses. So, keep it away from strangers and dickheads. On the bright side, they really are known as the better of the cats to keep and you could have done a lot worse. The cougar guys I used to know where always in trouble with them for some reason, tiger guys are generally more responsible and have fewer problems, and problems with servals are rare as long as you stay in control. |

It wont be going outside. :) Quote:
As big as you would imagine a cat 8 times the size of a normal cat would need. I have a extra room in my house so its basically the cats now. Quote:
