Fuck Dell... order the parts from Newegg, put it together yourself.
Nice Athlon 6400 with simple RAID, 1GB, decent sound/vid cards and 19" LCD -- sub $1500. You can trim $200 off this if you bargain shop the site. Takes about 4 hours to build the computer from parts (at least, that's how long it takes me with my marginal experience). Systems perform better than mass manufactured systems IMHO. ----------------------- DVD Burners 1 NEC Black IDE/ATAPI DVD Burner Model ND-3550A - OEM $39.99 $39.99 ATX Computer Cases 1 Sky Hawk/Eagle Tech PSR5601W-SL ATXALUMGT Silver Aluminum ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail $69.99 -$30.00 Instant $39.99 Internal Hard Drives 2 Western Digital Raptor WD740GD 74GB 10,000 RPM Serial ATA150 Hard Drive - OEM $40.00 Mail-in Rebate $161.00 $322.00 Monitors - LCD 1 ViewSonic Q9b Black 19" 12ms LCD Monitor - Retail $265.99 $265.99 AMD-compatible Motherboards 1 DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail $125.00 -$12.00 Instant $113.00 Sound Cards 1 Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS SB0350 8 (7.1) Channels PCI Interface Sound Card - OEM $70.00 $70.00 Power Supplies 1 Thermaltake TR2 W0070 ATX 430W Power Supply - Retail $10.00 Mail-in Rebate Remove item from Cart Remove Save Save Move To Wish List $39.99 $39.99 Keyboards 1 Microsoft S51-00001 2-Tone PS/2 Wireless Ergonomics Keyboard Mouse Included - Retail $81.00 $81.00 Memory - System 1 CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered Dual Channel $81.75 $81.75 Operating Systems 1 Microsoft Windows XP Media Center 2005 - OEM $129.95 $129.95 Combo 1 AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Processor Model ADA3200BPBOX - Retail 1 PNY VCG6600GXPB Geforce 6600GT 128MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail $40.00 Mail-in Rebate $291.00 -$15.00 Combo $276.00 Subtotal: $1,459.66 |

I have a 9300 ; nice machine does what I want it to do when I want it very fast |
I just ordered my mom and dad one last Tuesday morning at 1:00 am. They shipped the damn thing later that same day, lol.
It was a Dimension desktop but it was a pretty good deal. No shipping charges and a $271 instant rebate, plus 20% off, I think. I upgraded the memory, got a dual DVD combo, added a floppy drive, got a 19" flat screen, added the speaker bar thing, and also got them one of those printer/copier/scanner/fax photo printer deals with an LCD screen on it, that my mom had been wanting. The whole thing was only $965. |
in that case go with an media center ;)
