im from canada, and i live in major urban center some of the month "travel back and forth alot". DUring the sars thing i wasnt scared at all, if fact i didnt even really think about it, and bird flu, if i had a list of concerns for everyday when i go out, birdflu is behind removing pebbles from the tread grooves on my tires when its -30C outside.

here in Ottawa I feel like a fucking imagrant, almost need to move somewhere else to feel white again.

i.e. if canada had 10 people and 1 was asian , that would make canada have 10% asians, if usa had 100 people and 9 of them were asians that would make 9% of americans asians , but theres still more asians in the usa right ...

Turns out, migratory birds (specifically, ducks) have managed to pick up strains of avian flu. Not necessarily the partially human-specific H5N1 strain, but still a form of avian influenza.

Still, it's pretty damn unlikely that it's going to get here. For this virus to cross over you basically have to eat/sleep/shit/live/fuck birds 24/7. Last I heard, the most contact we have with birds up here is either feeding them in parks or eating them with lemon pepper and a side of rice.

Not goign to make much of a difference for us or for you, Pro. Migratory birds are carrying the avion flu back and forth, and even if there was never another international flight, it's not going to change it coming to North America, unless of course you can keep every bird from migrating for the winter.

im ignorant to the subject.. but can you give some examples of birds migrating from (inhabited) asia to (inhabited) north america?

The killer pandemic strain will come from another person (once it has mutated). Not from another bird. You don't have to worry about migration routes.

Need any more proof? The last site is the site of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife service, and they have a ton of links to more scientific studies that indicate that migratory wild birds will bring the bird flu to North America.

Yes you do, because you never know where the mutated version of the flu will come from.. .It could be from someone working with chickens in asia, but it could just as easily be someone in north america who has contact with wildfowl.

The Xinhua news agency, quoting the Health Ministry, said a 35-year-old woman farmer in Anhui province had developed fever and pneumonia-like symptoms on November 11 after contact with sick and dead poultry. She died on November 22.

H5N1 has killed 67 people in Asia since 2003, and both the

For now, the virus is hard for humans to catch. But the case confirmed on Wednesday is China's second known fatality. A poultry worker from Anhui died of bird flu on November 10.

Another confirmed case, a nine-year-old boy, survived infection while his dead sister is a suspected case.

Some 50 million Chinese households raise poultry, mainly in backyards, yet the average number of birds raised is just 19, he said, citing a Chinese government survey.
