If everyone is so worried about the youth of America's health then why the hell do school busses stop to drop them off every 50 yards?

I agree with that. when I was a kid. some of the others on my buss walked at least 75 yards.

No really they walked about 4 blocks.

I'd agree, most cases are faults in parenting. Granted some kids are built heavy, but it doesn't mean they have to be obese. Kids need to be taught what to do, and over feeding your child to the point of obesity is abusive.

I'm just thankful for living in a country where that it a problem.

if it's going in the mouth and not coming out the ass, you have a problem. adjust your eating habbits.

Definitely. I know 2 parents who are toothpicks and have two grossly overweight daughters. ....and they are doctors. I don't even know what to think.

School buses are for the rich kids in the suburbs.. Kids in the ghetto take public transit

yea here in holland kids go to school with bicycles... i used to cycle about 3 km to school and back..

I see more and more people spoiling their children these days. Maybe it's because i'm hanging out with an older group of people who can afford to spoil their children, but i remember growing up, I myself and my friends were much more respectfull of our parents than kids these days are.

And in my day, we walked up hill in the snow both ways to get to school.

Plus we didn't have shoes back then, We'd have to wrap newspaper around our feet..... :1orglaugh

the problem is that mothers either have too much time or not enough. The ones that have too much time cook these big dinners every night and then force their kids to finish it all even if they say they are full. The ones who don't have enough time are the ones dropping off burgers and shakes from mcdonalds on thier way to the dry cleaners

At my son's school, even if you lived near the school they didn't want you walking there. Absurd. I seriously walked at least 2 miles each way to school and back. I loved it. Granted I wouldn't send a daughter down the little paths I took back then, but there is SO little exercise in the school systems any more. My son was always in prime physical shape and ate horribly - but he also played sports outside of school. And had a wicked metabolism!

actually i remember it snowing when i was growing up "down south". We took out sneakers and wraped them in plastic bread bags put elastic bands around them. then we moved to RI and it was back to 4 seasons.

yeah! and why just go after tobacco when Mc Donalds will make you fat and unhealthy... Imean they target kids don't they? Granted,McDonalds may not kill them... but them big macs are fucking addicting...

talking about big macs; i find it very dsturbing the mcd's around here dont put ketchup on em but this weird gross sauce... burgers need kethcup, i guess in the US big macs got ketchup on em?
That is why i hate mcd's (at least around here), its tasteless crap.. Burger king is much better.

Nope no ketchup on Big Macs in the USA either, or anywhere else in the world that i have had them. They pretty much taste the same in every country, other then in India where they are made from Goat :Oh crap

I'm talking every other street they were stopping. Kids from the previous stop were catching up to the bus at the next stop.

that simple, instead of being a bad parent and letting your little rolley polley play xbox 7 hours a day get them into a sport.

if you live within a 2 mile radius of the school I went to, you walked, rode a bike or caught a ride. Further then 2 you'd have to walk up to 1/4 mile to catch a bus

I wouldn't call them bad parents 'coz they are just feeding their kids and providing them what they need. I would say they are not that aware about their kid's health. They should discipline them when it comes to their appetite.
