I thought 2257 was the end of the adult internet ?
what happenned ?

Still awaiting the judges ruling.
Also, even if that goes in our favor (it probably will) it's likely that this congress will just rewrite the law before the '06 elections. Either way I anticipate some serious battles between this administration/congress and our industry over the next couple of years. |
The sky was falling.
The sky fell. We're doing business on top of the sky and clouds. |
If the United States was the centre of the universe as some American politicians think it is - then perhaps 2257 would spell doom for a lot of web porn.
But since much of the world has come to regard the U.S. simply as being the playground bully its become under the GWB administration...2257 is becoming the incentive for more and more American webmasters to look offshore for hosting and operations. 2257 will go down in history as the federal government shooting itself in the proverbial foot - considering the multi-billion dollar economy that the porn engine drives. Speaking of all this: whatever happend to Acacia?
|
Acacia is still be fought be a few while others seem to forget the companies paying Acacia money to fuel their fight. How many send hits to an Acaqcia licensee?
The 2257 thing is still in court and the amendments will be re written, how much is to be decided. Expect the days of "I don't need the documents becasue I'm on the Internet" to be over. I predict you will need the documents and to put up the address where they can be viewed if you publish porn. |

Just under your 2257 docs - post the info of all surfers hitting your site from us.gov domains. They want the world to have access to our personal identities. I think its only fair we reciprocate the favour. |

Good idea. Can't wait to see what the medias will say when they learn that Bush is surfing frequently on mike18.com when aboard air force one. |

Just put up your office address and the name of the Custodian or Records. Or do you think it's right to publish porn without any documents? My name and address is on our site and I'm not in the Us nad not covered by 2257, but keep to it. Because even though it's a bad law it's the best thing we have. |

But I might have a scheme that will make it legal. See me in Vegas about it. |

B) My office address IS my home address, FYI. And I'm the custodian of records. And I don't relish the thought of paying for and maintaining a PO box just to satisfy that asshole GWB. For the record - I'm not in the U.S. either. Yet we have the 2257 info on our sites. |

A PO box is not complying with 2257 by the way. |
