If you have never been buzzed by a fighter jet at low altitude your in for an experience whenever it happens!

You sort of see a dark flash or shadow go by and then WHAM a few seconds later the sound hits you and you almost piss your pants!

I used to fish in the bombing range allot in Lake George and when the fighters jets would fly down from Jacksonville to practice they would buzz you a few times to let you know to get the hell out of there they want to drop their bombs. They were just smoke bombs though. No explosives. They had pilings all out in the lake with square targets mounted on top. Hundreds of them. Great for fishing!

hellya dude...

i take my boat over to san clemente island (70 miles offshore from The OC) and late at night they bomb it with real explosives. Best fishing off of OC. Tons of big yellowtail and yellowfin, not to mention all the marlin, swordies and massive makos! You can hear the booms late at night here in Newport Beach

pornguy 11-19-2005 09:46 PM

A friend f mine flys an was telling me that they only do that type of low level flying over shallow water.. Blue water has to much of a threat of a killer wave popping up.

emthree 11-19-2005 10:02 PM

Forgot to mention the contaminated fish that you catch.
Sounds like an experience, but... why?

I'd be so down for that...so many people are pussies, thats why all the fish congregate there, its like a safe area :1orglaugh

same thing with fishing near oil refineries.....amazing size of fish out there

all because we somehow think the fish would be contanimated from a proccess which is pretty safe & don't fuck up fish

That sounds logical.
Lake George is an inland lake about 12-15' average depth.
I dont think these smoke bombs they use contaminate anything though. They do litter the bottom however. You can pick them up with the fish finder all over the bottom when you fish there.

Weather has been sucking lately. Too windy and large seas. Gulfstream is way out from me though. About 58 miles to the west egde. When I lived down south it was only a few miles and you were in blue water.

There was just a killer article in Salt Water Fishing about that. They were hooking huge Grouper right next to those oil rigs in the Gulf Coast. If I lived on that side of the state I would be out there.

I'll never forget being on the far end of Wittman Field during EAA airshow week, I was driving my old Chevy G-20 fucktruck, meanwhile a F-18A did one of those 25 feet off the deck flybys from one end of the field to the other and lit the afterburner just as I was driving by.

Things got squirrely for a second and I was convinced that my van was going to tip over, its one sound I'll never forget. :1orglaugh

Shit, I hope be surprise if I see these flying along city streets someday. :thumbsup
