Can a straight guy like/love Elton John?
 

I was asking my mom what to get my brother for Christmas and she said he loves Elton John. And after thinking about it, I remember him getting all excited once when I was talking about Eminem and Elton playing that song together.

I don't know, I just don't know any guys that like Elton John. Ok, I like a few of his songs, but I wouldn't buy any of his CDs and I certainly don't "love" him, but now I'm really curious.

Elton John is a terrific songwriter, i do like him, but asside from his greatest hits and some old albums i wouldnt buy anything of his.

I dont think it makes you a fag to like him though.

No, that isn't it at all. Do you like Elton John? Do you have any straight guy friends that love him? I don't, I don't know any. I don't know any that like Cher either.

You can call me a pig if you want and I'm sure some gay guy will come in here kicking and screaming, I don't care. It doesn't change the fact that most guys are not into the more emotional style/type of music that Elton creates.

I would call him a musician for women long before a musician for gay men. But since my brother isn't a woman, I'm simply curious about the possibility.

I'm no fan of his newer, corporate fluff, but a huge selection of his older work is fucking draw-droppingly brilliant. I remember seeing him in his prime, and there is no new artist that even comes close to the talent that man has.

And he still has one of the greatest voices in rock when he turns it on.

It's o.k. to like early Elton but liking anything that came after the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album will set off many gaydars.
