Kofi Anan

...is knocking the US for not doing enough for the earthquake victims in Pakistan...while approving of the UN being renovated at a cost of 1.7 billion (I think that is the figure)...while critics are saying that cost is way out of line...for New York costs. Said cost will be paid by American tax payers.

Does anyone know how much longer Anan's term of office is?

It's $1.2 billion idiot.

BTW, how many hundreds of billions has this most recent Iraq War cost?

$500 billion or so isn't it?

It was reported on the news this morning that the original figure was 1.2 and this was sent back for study to reduce the figure and the second study added another .5 so instead of reducing the 1.2 it has increased to 1.7.

In answer to your question...it is my understanding that the figure is somewhere around 200 billion and climbing. BTW what the fuck does the cost of the war have to do with the cost of renovating the UN and US expense?

Renovating the UN makes more sense... and BTW the war has cost a lot more than 200 billion.

It's in NY, moron. It is New Yorkers that are going to benefit from the jobs created.
The building is half a century old...

And no, it is not the Mighty AmeriKa paying for it ( unless your read thekingdailynews.com ... )

Adding the scope options and other add-ons to the base price of the new plan yields a total adjusted cost of around $1.912 billion. America, which shoulders 22% of the U.N.'s operating costs, could expect to pay around $420 million.
