SEMI-BREAKING NEWS: A civil lawsuit jury finds actor Robert Blake liable for death of

BURBANK, California (AP) -- A civil jury Friday found actor Robert Blake liable for the slaying of his wife and ordered him to pay $30 million in damages.

The former "Baretta" star was acquitted of criminal charges eight months ago in the May 2001 death of his wife, Bonny Lee Bakley.

Jurors had begun deliberations on November 4; Friday was their eighth day.

Bakley's four children sued the 72-year-old actor in 2002, claiming he should be held responsible for their mother's death and forced to pay damages.

"Blake claims he went back into the restaurant to retrieve a handgun that he carried for protection but had left behind in their booth, then went back out to the car and found his wife mortally wounded in the passenger seat."

That's the lamest alibi ever.

$30 million in damages?! For that ho?!

Jeezus! Big price tag for white trash.

Blake should've just dropped her ass in a woodchipper. Be done with it.

I'm sure he couldn't care less, just like o.j. they would pay it all twice over to stay out of jail..

You gotta wonder about a justice system that can't put assholes like that in jail, charges children as adults, and routinely executed innocent people.

how in the fuck can one be found not guilty in a criminal trial, then have a civil trial and be found guilty?

Criminal court is ruled by "reasonable doubt"

Civil court can rule guilty even if there's a lot of gray areas and doubt.

and.. civil juries sometimes have access to evidence that criminal juries don't see due to some oddball legal processes....
