"Swedish Fish" candy that is available in stores and movie theaters throughout the United States. Anneli M. Sumen of the trade group, says Swedish Fish are made by a Swedish company, MalacoLeaf, and are similar to gummi bears in texture and taste. They are larger, shaped like fish, and red. Interestingly, they are only really popular in the US, and Malaco actually manufactures them in Canada for the US market (seems to us, they may have lost a bit of their Swedish heritage.)

I love the fishes cause they're so delicious.

BRISK 11-16-2005 03:54 PM

Probably cheaper to produce in Canada for the North American market than shipping them all the way from Sweden

It's because manufacturers can buy sugar at a better price in Canada that they can in the U.S. The makers of Lifesavers candy have moved a factory from Michigan to Canada for that same reason.

For the same reason that French fries aren't made in France; To save on transportation cost and avoid spoilage.

Probably the same reason that 'Clearly Canadian' bottled water comes from Los Angeles.

A quick off topic question for you.
Why is your content only allowed on galleries and AVS sites?
And why maximum 20 pics per site/gallery?
