They implemented a speed limit for cops in Holland

A speed limit for cops during chases :1orglaugh

FuqALot 11-15-2005 02:50 PM

What's the limit? ;-P

Libertine 11-15-2005 02:51 PM

Maximally 20 kmph above the normal speed limit in cities and on provincial roads, maximally 40 kmph above the speed limit on highways.

Roald 11-15-2005 02:58 PM

haha I love it!

GlydeGirl 11-15-2005 02:58 PM

Wonder if it will work?

FuqALot 11-15-2005 03:00 PM

it's not really weird considering they'd only go after stolen rides n stuff and that's just not worth it.. otherwise the license plate is enough and then no chasing needed.

Sam Granger 11-15-2005 03:02 PM

Stupid, what if they are chasing someone dangerous who just stole a car for example?

You're saying going after a bankrobber or murderer in a stolen car is just not worth it? :eek7

im pretty sure that if there is murder involved, they won't use the speed limit rule.

Sam Granger 11-15-2005 03:05 PM

Yeah, true, they'd probably make an exception for that.

Sam Granger 11-15-2005 03:06 PM

Wait - won't this mean nobody will be able to loose their license?

There are no specific exceptions. If a cop exceeds the cop speed limit in pursuit, he has to justify it afterwards or face punishment. The problem with this is that it discourages cops from focusing on doing their jobs, and it implies that they aren't able to judge situations themselves.

Yes, but you need to follow them and do speed checks over a distance - if the car is driving fast (over 20km over speed limit) you can't follow or check speed.

Ah that's true indeed ;-) But they'll probably figure something out. Speeding tickets are a money machine after all.

I'm still pretty sure that they will ignore speed limits when murder n stuff is involved though ;-)

ModelPerfect 11-15-2005 03:25 PM

They have a "speed limit" on cops in lots of places in the US. If their speed and/or the speed increase of the offender (because of the chase) increases risk to the general public, they have to abandon the chase.

JuiceMonkey 11-15-2005 03:26 PM

I think I know where osama is hiding.. with his ferrari.

smack 11-15-2005 03:27 PM

i think that is a pretty good idea. most high speed chases end with alot of collateral damage to civilians.

besides, why chase with cars when you can just call in the ghetto bird?

dynastoned 11-15-2005 03:28 PM

who the fuck is going to regulate how fast the cops actually go? they are the authority after all...

justsexxx 11-15-2005 03:29 PM

It will be proberly be for stupid things.,..Of course they will chase a murderer

northboy 11-15-2005 04:07 PM

if you go through a stop sign or something and they didn't catch your plate, better just floor it, that's the way to do it in holland now it looks like

tranza 11-15-2005 04:35 PM

nico-t 11-15-2005 06:54 PM
