Do you USE flash banners?
 

anyone actually use them? are they worth developing?

They pull better for me than normal banners when done well. Mind you 'normal' banners suck for clickthrus these days.

I think text links are the way to go. As long as they are VERY well written and have a strong starting line that will immediately attract the surfers eye, then you are set!

Think about al the surfers that dont have flash installed or never upgraded the version, its a fucking hassle for them if they need to download a plugin to view a page..... I'd say fuck em

No no no text links don't attract traffic, graphic is the way to go. Maybe not flash banners, but light easy banners, with a short bold message. When in banners...less is more!:winkwink:

mate.. we're talking around 97% penetration.. and theres a very easy script to employ that plays a gif instead if the person can't view a swf. you don't need flash MX version banners - anyone outputting even to v.5 is crazy.. unless they are very sure of their target market. ie with adultwebmaster targetted banners you might get away with it becuase of the technology adoption rate as compared with your average surfer.

although personally i can't wait for around 90 - 95% MX penetration.. love to put a little sorensen into an ad :)
