any service that will monitor uptime of a server?

i don't want to buy some program that i have to install on a server but rather just use some service that pings the server every so often to make sure its up. is there anything out there like that?

www.internetseer.com is what i use. (emails ya if/when your host is down & tells ya for how long). and its free. w00t!
