Hello collegues.. (well, sort of)

I was wondering..

Is the GFY board a place where we can share ideas with one another, and learn new things, or a place where our deepest psychological problems can be manifested, allowing us to do things like develop these huge alter-egos and obsess about developing our online persona, and such? When I first entered the adult industry, I naturally assumed that the former would be the case. I thought, "Wow, what a great thing -- a forum in which everyone can share thoughts and ideas!" but after reading many random musings and completely useless posts, I'm starting to think that maybe the latter is definitely moreso true.

Just a thought... I'm sure certain people think it is lovely to have a place where you can be the person you never thought you could be in real life because you've too little backbone to do it. Anyone share my sentiments?

You're obviously not perceptive enough to understand the wit behind my name. I can't really oblige you with an intricately detailed explanation, although I know this is what you were hoping for. I wonder if any of you are familiar with Plato's Allegory of the Cave (From Book VI of The Republic). This is Amputate. And he is a microcosm of this industry collectively.

To explain it simply, there are a group of people who are chained to a bench facing a wall in the cave. Behind them is a fire and a wall. In front of the wall are puppeteers. These puppeteers move their puppets, and the image of this is reflected off the wall onto the wall of the cave, and the prisoners in the cave see this, and are completely convinced this is reality. All that exists to them are the shadows on the wall, moving back and forth. When one of the prisoners is released, and sees the real world, and then returns to the cave and tells everyone else that there exists outside of the cave a huge world, his fellow prisoners ridicule him, saying he's mad. So, basically, they can't see beyond the scope of their own reality. They think that the things that they have experienced are all inclusive, and nothing could possibly exist beyond that. And so is Amputate.. that sort of mentality stifles progress.

Anyway, this is why you don't understand what my name meant.. You're trapped in a cave.

Ok, now to condescend to your level, just the other day you were trying to convince everyone how this board shouldn't be taken seriously, and it is a place to vent -- Yet, you unyieldingly try to convince everyone that you actually have something useful to say by continuing to post. Or perhaps you just acknowledge that you have nothing constructive to add and just like to see your name, and are trying to run up your posting #'s (I'm sure to make up for a lack of good sign up #'s). Whichever is the case, it's quite funny. Your name is very creative, by the way -- I marvel that I couldn't have thought of something so terribly witty.
