spacedog 11-13-2005 04:23 PM

a couple weeks ago I thought yahoo was great as I was getting lots of traffic from them. I was clicking the referal url in my stats to see what the keywords were & where I ranked & was pleased to see several dozen top 5 listings. then one night I fucked up ftp as so many domains on server, I accidentally ftp an update of a different site into that sites directory as index.htm & didnt realize it til about 3 hours later. Havent gotten a yahoo hit ever since???

thewebgarage 11-13-2005 04:26 PM

thats a sad story dude 3 hours of downtime and you lost you listing? I guess good hosting is more important than we all realize

kenny 11-13-2005 04:32 PM

Do you guys think MSN or yahoo will ever gain ground on Google?

I remember Google being superior in the quality of search results but its getting more and more the same sites at the top.

MrChips 11-14-2005 01:14 AM

Kenny - yes - Google wont last forever - MS always win in the end :)

jMEGA 11-14-2005 01:17 AM

Are the updates all in place or have they started?

flashfreak 11-14-2005 01:32 AM

google rocks my world.
I have many #1 listings on google and they're burried on yahoo.
doesn't matter anyway, If I'd have #1 on yahoo for the same keyword it would send like 8% of google's traffic. so I rather optimize for other keywords for google than waste time with yahoo

I had top listings on google and I had on MSN and Yahoo! and I can say that yahoo traffic is not the "se traffic" you might think it is - just remember that most people who are searching yahoo already searched google.

I wonder what this means for me. I don't have any blogs. Well, I have two or three but I haven't really done much with them yet.

If that's the case, GO MSN! 50% of my sites' hits come from MSN.

MrChips 11-14-2005 02:15 AM

Seems like blogspot has been hit - thankyou Yahoo. But also - im seeing doms with merely the word "blog" in them missing now too.

I know its not everything - Yahoo traffic - but it all ads up.

Looks like subdoms are doing well with massive linking from subdoms on 1 IP giving a good booster and not filtered.

Its still updating BTW - not finished yet - so well see what gives a a later date no doubt.

AdrichesRep 11-14-2005 04:56 AM

ow, thanks for dropping that news here. :)
