Problems with CCbill

Hey guys,

I tried to sign up for a membership to a website through CCBill and I keep getting the message "Card Declined at Pre-Auth SC" even though my credit card is perfectly valid and works on other sites. Anyone ever ran into this problem or have any idea what the problem is??

I've tried to contanct CCbill but no reply as of yet...

Let me guess...

you're not located in the same country where your card was issued?

I.E.: Your card is from the US but you are in Spain currently.

About right?

havokk 11-13-2005 03:10 AM

yeah, actually thats the case. Anyway to get around this problem??

JOKER 11-13-2005 03:13 AM

Try a proxy that matches your Country of issue...

No guarantee though.

Had the same problem couple days ago and didnt bother any further.

Good luck.

havokk 11-13-2005 03:15 AM

how do I use different proxies?

JOKER 11-13-2005 03:16 AM

Google it - RTFM :thumbsup

Which processor(s) will accept such transactions? I though this was a standard decline among most processors.

Validus 11-13-2005 04:18 AM

It would be strange if a payment process would let a transaction like that through. Unless of course the user is known to travel a lot or something :)

Not quite, but that would be my first guess too. My SECOND guess is that this guy is a tool and has requested so many credits or performed so many chargebacks, that CCBill blacklisted his sorry butt.

I try and I try, but people like you are few and far between. :)

When I worked at CCBill, I loved getting these calls.. "I am getting declined at Preauth SC"

Look up their name in the system and find they have charged-back numerous times was the typical scenario.

Then we had the delightful job of telling them to go fuck themselves in a professional manner of course.

Nice to know I was dead on. :)

havokk 11-14-2005 03:39 AM

wtf is a charge back anyway? I think we have already established that the problem is I am in a foreign country, not the one my card is registered in...

iBanker 11-14-2005 05:38 AM

nice try....

Yes, one scenario could be that you not in the country the credit card was issued in. Now, if you are unlucky, you may have been placed on a black list.

No probs here.

iBanker 11-14-2005 05:50 AM

Homeboy got owned most liekly. More oftne than not, that is the real reason, ESPECIALLY if they are here posting about as a new user...... they hear about all the talk and dont put two and two together.

This happened to me today actually through ccbill. I am in the US, have never charged anything back in my life, and was attempting to use a card with a large credit limit that is always totally paid off. I kept getting declined for the reason "Bank Declined Card". I called my CC issuer and they had no idea why I was getting declined, so I can only chalk it up to scrubbing or my CC company is full of shit and actually declining ccbill charges across the board now. I assume that is NOT the case (or pray it isn't).

CCBill was successfully charging this card for months up until yesterday. I would actually like to hear that this is an isolated case, so what I am hearing sounds good so far.

Calvinguy 11-14-2005 11:33 PM

There have been incidents in the past where creditcard issueres block certain "shops" from doing transactions with their cards. I found out myself as I could not join my own site through Ibill some years ago... I called in and they said that that "shop" was blocked from transactions. It only lasted a couple of months though...
