BLOGGERS, inside please --

Which blogs do you visit daily?

And what category of content are you most interested in when doing your daily round of blog reading?

Do you focus more on the COMMENTARY or the "news"? Are you looking for REFERENCE material?

Doctor Dre 11-13-2005 02:23 AM

Reference material always give credibility to the article, and make it usefull to somebody who's doing research . However ... most of the people really don't care about that

Cool. So the reference would be a good way to 'ground' the reader that they are not reading speculation or fake stuff. Do you read blogs for the 'weird or unusual twist of the commentary' or more towards the 'whats the latest' angle on an issue/product/etc?

Why would anyone go to a blog for the "news?" Why not go to a news site for news? Blogs are entertainment.

Interesting point. However, there's many different kinds of blogs. Normally, blogs offer great commentary and spin on particular news item. The best kinds are 'micro blogs' that track particular news events happening to niche special interests. These are what make blogs more informative than just a straight news RSS dump.

Applying this to the adult blog scene, perhaps entries that poke fun or offer a PERSONALITY commentator which makes idiosyncratic comments about FHGs (sensibly geared towards keywords of course). Another tack would be to focus on just one niche or subniche and gather news/jokes/cartoons for it along with entertaining/dramatic/comedic commentaries and of course, niche specific FHGs.

Blogs with commentary about the news is what makes it entertainment.

The Daily Show is not the news, it is entertainment. The O'Reilly Report is not the news, it is entertainment. 20/20 is not the news . . . . neither is a blog that is commentary.

I don't wanna split hairs but blogs definitely add extra value to product announcements or product reviews. However, the focus is still on the news/substantive product and the commentary/humor/spin acts as a guide. If we take out the news/product then there's nothing to comment/spin on.

But asides from semantics:

Proper mix of reference material and content on blogs?
