Yup... good stuff. Welcome to 75 years ago... not your fault, but welcome to the good life :)

EDIT: congrats on 1,500

HorseShit 11-12-2005 08:47 PM

Yes, I know since it's canadian, it's whisky not whiskey :)

Chris 11-12-2005 08:56 PM

crown n coke
nothing better

BV 11-12-2005 09:06 PM

Crown is one of my staples.

DamageX 11-12-2005 09:08 PM

Jameson. End of story.

Blended whiskeys were created for the non-Scotsmen and Gaels... aka the weak palettes. Single malt is the only way to go. But I'll give you this much, for a canadian blended whiskey, crown isn't too bad.

Real purists know that if it's Scotch, it's "whisky" not "whiskey" :winkwink:

fair enough, real purists also know that after having been working for 20 hours straight, it doesnt matter how you speeel it... a good whiskey or whisky will go down the same, no matter how you spell it. I was just pouring myself a glass of connemara pot still whiskey... easily made mistake. perhaps we should have a drink sometime, you seem to enjoy yours :) here's to good health!

*cheers*

A quick guide to the spelling of "whiskey" based on country of origin:

From Scotland - "whisky"
From Ireland - "whiskey"
From USA/Canada - "paintstripper"

:thumbsup

Dont you understand that the US now makes the best whiskey in the world??? Scotland and Ireland import all of the used US oak barrels to make their whiskey in now. US whiskey is considered some of the finest in the world

TexasDreams 11-12-2005 10:04 PM

My favorite nightcap is Jack Daniel's and Coke. Or Pepsi. You get the Jack Daniel's in there, it doesn't matter.

"Jameson is laid down for maturation in oak casks which have previously been seasoned by holding Bourbon and Oloroso Sherry."

In other words, they use bourbon to kill all the woodworm before the good stuff goes in the barrels :winkwink:

HorseShit 11-12-2005 10:21 PM

Between Dr Bizzarro and myself we put away at least 10 bottles for Internext :)
For Scotch - Glenfiddich only

crown royal is too sweet, i prefer Wisers.

NoWhErE 11-13-2005 10:16 AM

Crown Royale is the nectar of the gods!

dready 11-13-2005 10:18 AM

Crown Royale is good, but I prefer Alberta Premium. It's the only Rye Whiskey made with 100% rye. All the others, including Crown are blended with corn etc.

SilentKnight 11-13-2005 11:26 AM

Gotta go with either Jack Daniels or Jim Beam.

Long live the southern sourmash bourbons! :)

dready 11-13-2005 11:40 AM

For straight up drinking I'll take my Whiskeys in this order:

Irish, Scotch, Canadian, American.
