IKEA nightmare

Uhm...IKEA just opened up its second New England store....first in Massachusetts. People were waiting outside for 3 weeks in anticipation. State Police had to shut down exits on the highway. Those who were lucky to make it off the exit...takes you 2 hours to get from the exit to the store...a total distance of 0.5 miles. Its been 5 days now and the madness has not stopped.

IKEA is now offering shuttle service to the store.

So can someone answer my question?

What the fuck is the big deal?

mrthumbs 11-12-2005 04:09 PM

OMGFG cant believe you are asking that stupid question.. Its I-FUCKING-KEA were talking about here.. HELLLOOOO

hydro 11-12-2005 04:10 PM

The Truth Hurts 11-12-2005 04:10 PM

DamageX 11-12-2005 04:18 PM

All I can say is... OWNED! :1orglaugh

Lee 11-12-2005 04:18 PM

Ikea is Swedish smeg. Totally sucks and those people in the queue should hang their heads in shame.

Lycanthrope 11-12-2005 04:19 PM

The problem is an over-abundance of stupid people.

The same shit happened here when they opened up a Krispy Kreme.

Unbelievable.

MikeVega 11-12-2005 04:59 PM

there's one over here ... no big deal ... definitely not worth a wait like that ... it's good for small cheap shit but nothing that great ..

BlackCrayon 11-12-2005 05:00 PM

the trendy fucks love that place. its fairly cheap and a lot of the stuff is junk but all in all people are lemmings, sheep, whatever.

Sly 11-12-2005 05:06 PM

When I first moved to San Diego a neighbor told me Ikea was great and everybody loved it. So I checked it out. Its a decent store, actually kind of fun, but good grief its only shopping. Its inexpensive furniture that serves its purpose, not the cure for an AIDS infested society.

poorwebmaster 11-12-2005 05:10 PM

Wood, wood and more wood.

You should check out the layout in france, once you enter, you can't exit from the entrance side, you have to fuckin' go through the whole store

Massive difference there. the KK is worth the wait for the Hot ones.

Azlord 11-12-2005 05:16 PM

There is some cool stuff at IKEA. I have purchased some shit from there. But you have to be careful. For example, you can get a really hard, uncomfortable couch for like 500$ right? Or you can get something really nice, same look, and comfortable at copenhagen for like 700$. The couches and the seating are the only big compaints I have at IKEA. Everything is what it is.... cheap furniture that looks good.

Quotealex 11-12-2005 05:25 PM

I just love IKEA. Their stuff are easy to assemble and transport and doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

BradShaw 11-12-2005 05:26 PM

Poor people need a place to shop other than wal mart. They recently opened one up in Dallas, I checked it out and could not help but laugh.

xNetworx 11-12-2005 05:28 PM

Some of their stuff is ok. A lot of it is cheap crap tho :2 cents:

the Shemp 11-12-2005 05:36 PM

True, but not every home comes with pre-installed IKEA. :1orglaugh

Drake 11-12-2005 06:45 PM

Weird. Btw, where do most of you guys buy decent new furniture? What are the best stores for good new furniture if you're not interested in going to used furniture stores.

Fred Quimby 11-12-2005 07:18 PM

any wood furniture you buy should be tongue and groove

They have trendy cheap furniture.

GoLiaT 11-13-2005 05:16 AM

ikea is great for your first home
normally young people having their first home isnt loaded
so they can get new furnitures for a small buck.

if you have cash there is always an option...
but for those with small budgets its great

v4 media 11-13-2005 05:20 AM

Happened in the UK aswell,
they opened a new store in North London, and the main London ringroad ended up closing cause of the rush..

High Quality 11-13-2005 05:21 AM

I have an iKea coffee table and lights and stuff. Very quality merchandize for low low prices :)

romeoboi 11-13-2005 06:02 AM

IKEA has been trying to build a store in the Boston area for at least 5+ years - people drive to new haven, CT all the time to go.

My friend in boston said the local news was plugging the opening every night on TV and IKEA was offering prizes to people who waited in line.

Also think about this - there are 250k+ college students in the metro boston area. College kids, young professionals are one of IKEA's target demos... does that explain some of the madness? its a total cult brand

Paparazzi 11-13-2005 11:04 AM

Next year when I move to my new apartment I will visit IKEA :)
